Zoners are by far the most disorganised faction in all of Sirius, in fact - they aren't even a faction! The Zoners are a label for people who choose to live outside the houses making their living as border world merchants and innkeepers. Capital ship fleet? Completely ridiculous.
same for bountyhunter and in fact everybody except houses
So the answer would be to implement further rules about the bounty boards. Not try and push for a Bounty Hunter to hunt your Gunboat, cruiser or Battleship with a Bomber.

soo - would you all be happy if we deactivated all capital ships? - in the end, we saw many complaint about house capital ships, too.
would it make everyone happy if players in general were not allowed to fly capital ships? - ( and bombers .. .no point in bombers when no one flies a cap )
and "yes" - i do consider that kind of debate a bit tiring after seeing it the dozenths time in a year. - capital ships are disco, faction developement is disco - wether you like it or not. some factions HAVE capital ships ... and they use them.
capital ships are free-for-all and not approved by some devine being for their personal minions. ( the later woudl cause endless problems ) - the capital ship population IS HEALTHY on the server.. . in fact, there are really just the right amount of capital ships around ( pirate and BHG ) - they concentrate sometimes in certain spots - but its not hard to avoid them.
this is NOT a problem - these ships are needed - even if they were only part of an arms race. - but NO faction wants to give up their ships. - tell the BHG to give up their capital ships? - you can also tell the corsairs to do the same - or the outcasts .... no one is propared for the outrage.
so we keep them and generally hope that players become responsible. - and indeed, players DO become responsible - ( and then they switch to a bomber or LF mk2, cause they can kill much easier that way ) <-- once the switched, they start complaining about the nasty capships... .
many a players that have abused the power of the capital ships before are now responsible members of factions or something else - but it took a process to get there.. some players that were responsible then are still responsible, others had a capital ship back then - and still have it - and use it in a much better manner. - the point is ...
out of 500 players - it only takes 5 to mess it up - but 5 players is no majority and no reason for nerfs.
Take out the capital ships and we will lose a lot of players and new incoming players.
The best part of this server is the numbers of players that it has in any hour.
All we can to do is keeping reporting on cap whores and OORP cap players.
Yes, BH indies have to learn that capships are not to collect bounties.
"Yes, BH indies have to learn that capships are not to collect bounties."
Ahh, in what purpose should we use them? Please tell me.
Totaly agree wtih Jinx. And yes, i do like my capital ship, even though i have few fighters. I prefer fights cap vs cap. Bombers/fighters i kill only in self defence.
There is too much distrust towards capital ship pilots. When looked upon by other players, every capital ship I have owned has been berated by (fighter/bomber) players before I even had the chance to prove myself. Bounty hunter capital ships simply have the advantage of being able to go anywhere...
Wait, Corsairs and Outcasts can pretty much go anywhere either (not everywhere, but you get the point). Should they lose their ships as well? Should they have an entire section of their roleplay cut out for out-of-roleplay reasons? I believe people should just wait it out, warm up their battlecruiser-killing weapons and let the new restrictions (for all factions) in 4.85 do their intended job.
To Derkylos, I believe you are incorrect about the role of the Guild Core. While nomad research and harvesting is their main role in the Omicrons, I believe they instigated the war against the Order (and subsequently the Corsairs of Delta). The Order was a rival in their quest for knowledge - a rival with several key systems and well-placed bases, perfect for the Guild Core to have a permanent base of operations against Nomads. The Order probably has more altruistic purposes for nomad research, ie saving humanity and all. The Guild Core on the other hand, is likely taking the technology to outfit the BHG and prepare for something in the future (House war? who knows). Unfortunately, neither of us is really correct, until Igiss releases more information about the Guild Core, their role and the Order/Corsair conflict.
If you put it this way, pirates and non-military non-house factions shouldn't have capital ships either.
However, The Discovery Mod tried to balance all the factions, by introducing equivalent hardware to everyone (more or less and except for the damned nomads, wilds and phantoms, that have uber stuff)...
Trust me, there's no other way. Either take them all out, or keep them all in.

BHG caps are supposed to be fighting Order ... not hunting bounties.
I'd agree to leave BHG alone if the BHG would hunt us pirates more reasonably. But accepting "generic" bounties and using overclassed vessels don't help your case. My pirate, Black.Pearl, does a bit of trading on the side. He moves water, food and medicine to those the house systems oppress. He hasn't pirated anyone in over 3 months. So hunting me without a specific bounty for something I personally have done pisses me off.
If the "blanket bounty" is posted on the forums, it's valid. Your pirate character associates with a certain crowd and operates against the interests of the House authorities - if I understood correctly. So whether or not he engages in active or relentless piracy, he's a target too. Guilt by association and all that. Not always fun to be on the receiving end, but...
Having read this thread a couple times through and after digesting some of the thoughts expressed here, I've come to the conclusion that BH, Order, the Zoners nor any of the unlawfuls need warships (destroyers on up) to fulfill their respective rp. This isn't criticism against the mod or those wonderful ship designers or against Igiss - just my personal viewpoint as a player and as a BH capship owner. Larger transports, cruise liners, Nomad capships, House warships all can be handled with bombers and gunboats. In short, we could all get by with less and still have fun.
Now I doubt seriously that anyone would seriously consider taking away capships at this point (ie. dessies and larger) from these aforementioned factions. What I wouldn't want would be a "Hamstring the BH and Take All Their Big Toys" policy, leaving the other factions unscathed. If Igiss (he has final say) ever decides to take the big caps from the BH, I think the Corsairs, Order, et al. would be under the same scrutiny.
Now would such a drastic measure curb unruly behavior? Well, there might not be any more complaining about warship gankings across the board, but people can still manage to be jerks in fighter/bomber/gunboat squadrons and ruin someone's gameplay. People are creative like that.

I don't know, fighting against Order may be? fighting against Corsairs capital ships? Or hunting nomads after all that was their purpouse, and I have never seen a BH harvesting nomads or doing RP about Nomads, I have only seen "Corsair/Order you're going to die".
From my own experience, just fly to Delta in a titan, and any BH capship is gonna shoot you just because all corsairs have a bounty on their heads. Or capships waiting at 5k from Fp11 to kill you, this is common in the wild omicron delta.
Why is this about BH capships and no others? I guess BH are those who get more sanctions or at least more reports about overkill and such. (Corsairs are the next ones)
