i had proposed a direct way from dresden to delta some time ago ( dev forum ) - but it was shot down. - the BHG MUST go through gamma. - some may be allowed to go through alaska - but with liberty / rheinland at the edge of war - its hard to believe a private army ( and the core is a privat army for that matter ) to pass through two nations that are beyond a "cold war state".
the original plan was that ALL BHG capitals would pass through alaska. - now - they must all go through gamma. - don t blame the BHG for it... i am fairly sure that BHG would like to have a passage that was not going through a pirate home system with their capital warfleet.
anyway - a direct passage will not happen. - BHGs will have a better base of operations in delta soon - and lots of the current conflicts will vanish ( BHG warfleet using zoner bases who are allied to the order etc. ) - but none the less - the corsairs have to live with it... .
put a gate in O15 or O 56. That way Gamma will be (hopefully) freed from the mupped squad as Athienian calls em. it gives the Corsairs room to breath and the Core a chance to get to the Omicrons without pissing off either LN(S) through Alaska or the Corsairs through Gamma. that way Omega 15 may indeed be resurected. even better: the corsairs then have a place to attack as well. payback time againt hunters HQ. that would be nice.

since you are talking about things happening in the dev forum, what about the route through 41-theta-74-kappa, that would be without crossing gamma, will that route be available in 4.85 or was it shot down too?
BH are getting a base in delta? seriously, with the order there, and the corsairs in RP that base would'nt have even started being built, the sairs and the order would've taken care of it before the hunters even thought of it...

on the one hand, there are complaints how the BHG can stage their war effords from freeport 11 - with the zoners and the order being buddies.
but once the BHG gets their own base to AVOID this conflict - there are complaints how they cannot have built it.
we have FACTS there.... the BHG IS a warship faction - that unlike other warship factions has a very good reason to build those ships. ( much much more reason than corsairs, outcasts, dragons, zoners, IMG, dragons, hessians, junkers, etc. )
the war is a feature of disco - a feature that is as important and as valid as the war between kusari and bretonia. - the BHG / order war is not of a lower quality in terms of roleplay or concept.
now - those are the facts. - so if they cannot stay on FP11 due to RP conflicts - they get their own base - easy as that....
delta politics shift - the corsairs only got a small outpost, the BHG a battlestation, the zoners a large freeport and the admins a silly battlestar. - that is the situation.
it is really important to keep those facts in mind. - the BHG is at war with the order, they have a justified place in this area. - before the BHG leaves delta - the corsairs and the zoners would be removed first, cause THEY have less justification to be there. - for the BHG core... omicron delta is the center of operations, THE system they are stationed in - it is the all or nothing.
when its about the lore - it would be more questionable to keep yaren outpost - as the BHG, which is MUCH stronger in this area could wipe this little depot out easily.
What's the problem with that? Surely it will solve the Corsairs greatest and most well-publicised gripe: the BHG invasions of Gamma? Oh, and the other gripe: the BHG using Freeports. Seeing as the Order seem to be plonked in Toledo's orbit drinking beer and admiring each other's tags, and the Cosairs seem determined to
a. invade Bretonia whenever they can
b. control the Omegas
c. sit on the Sigma trade route
d. eliminate the Outcasts
it's pretty likely someone would have made it through their over-stretched defenses. Especially considering all these rumours you hear about how they like shooting each other and are constantly vying to be the baddest guys in town.
Plus, I'm sure the many BHG players out there have at least one capship to spare amongst them. Anyone?
I see no problem with the BHG having cap ships. Microsoft are far better at funding navies when compared to most countries so why not Sirius's largest commercial operation? Cap Whoring will always be an issue if server rules do not restrict cap ship engagments. Restricting Cap ships in 4.85 will reduce the fun. Don't break the game, control through set rules.
I firmly believe that cap ships from gunboats up are way too cheap. Set BS's at 3 billion, BC's and Cruisers at 1.5 billion and Gunboats at 1 billion. Set a rules of engagement for all cap ship engagements. Don't limit their use, just make a group of 2 or more cap ships post 48hrs prior to leaving restricted systems. Let's be fair, movements for major world fleets are hard to hide. That "why can I not sneak up and suprise attack" thing just does not fit guys! Still, moving into other systems should be permitted, even in numbers, just permit the roleplay of AI early warning systems.
Limit pirating to Bombers and below. Limit Cap Ships to one per person. Some may claim that having rules of engagement spoils the fun. Pre 1913 the entire world had rules of engagement. B4 WWI fighting over christmas or on a Sunday was out. The Samurai had a code for warfare. Why not support a strict code for cap ships but permit them to move throughout most systems, within the guidelines of said code.
Also, no name changes to cap ships. Easier to police those who misbehave.
Tallyho Good Chappie! Stiff Upper Lip What?! Now, where are my pants!
"I firmly believe that cap ships from gunboats up are way too cheap. Set BS's at 3 billion, BC's and Cruisers at 1.5 billion and Gunboats at 1 billion."
Now, which banks will we be robbing blind to get together that kind of moola? :/
I'm sorry, but the jump in the tax brackets seems a might bit steep there.. To get the 33 mil I had to scrounge up for my gunboat, not to mention the armor upgrade, scanner, the works.. That took me a good chunk of time from when I first started here with 8 grand in my bucket-of-bolts starflier...
Now to go from 33 mil to one Billion credits for the smallest of the capships would make it virtually impossible for anyone to start fresh here and have any dreams of anything bigger than a bomber.
Even as the prices are now, I could spend all of my spare time here running trade routes, and still barely scratch the costs I would need to even get the License for a battleship..
Just sayin', that would definitely be the way to go if you had a hankerin' to crush some dreams.
I got enough credits for a cap license in a week and a half. Of course I did get 35 million start up cash from Rep-Ex and I was playing a lot but a person with a normal schedule should be able to do it in a month or so. I don't think there is anything wrong with that, you need that much playtime to get practiced at the RP which is a very necessary skill for cap owners and we dont want everyone and their mother flying a cap either.
But no, I dont think the prices should go up.
Quote:Cap Whoring will always be an issue if server rules do not restrict cap ship engagements. Restricting Cap ships in 4.85 will reduce the fun.
So your saying you want cap whoring or that cap whoring is more fun??
As for posting movements in advance, maybe, it would be a nice way to set up impromptu events so the opposing faction had time to muster there own fleet, however personal schedules might interfere too much.
Finally I agree with the bit about capital ship movement being hard to hide, an idea to help combat that would be to require all cap ships to have a tag in the name.
BHG base in Delta: Awww, I like admiring tags, but seriously RP wise I dont think it would be very possibly to get the materials and equipment there cause they'd have to bring it all through Gamma and if they could bring a Battle fleet large enough to defend transports from Corsairs through Gamma why wouldn't they have destroyed Crete from orbit ages ago. Also if they were moving that large a fleet through Gamma wouldn't the order get wind of it from there allies and send most of their capships to stop them? Now a secret asteroid base in Delta I could buy.
Now I can talk about the BHG caps:
Yes they would have them if they are fighting the Order. Arent I good at staying on topic?
Well, I know a good solid streak of trading in an Adv. Train will get you cash in a hurry without even trying.. It's just the time it takes to even work up to get the 110 mil or so before you can get an Adv. Train.. :/ starting with 8,500 creds doesn't tend to buy you that much hold space..
