The time limit is 40 days last time I checked. If you have multiple account codes, make sure the right one is active. Other then that, Im not sure what to tell you:(

Well I don't remember how long my PC was down for. I think it was more than a month though. That still seems a little ridiculously short though. Sheesh I had like 350 million credits, I REALLY hope my **** isn't all gone.
Nope. 40 days and is the inactive character wipe. When my laptop died I was out for about 2 months, lost everything. All my .:j:. characters, my OS&C Royal Liner, my xeno fighter, my Bretonian destroyer... Thankfully the Congress gave me a loan for a firefly to get me back on my feet, but it's been a lot of work to build most of my characters back up.
Should your computer die I suggest contacting a trusted flying partner and send him your FLAM account codes. Get him to take your ships out for a quick spin once a week to keep the characters from being wiped.
What you referred to with the 10 minute thing, stewcool, is the dis-interested character wipe. Characters 7 days old with less than 10 minutes flying time get wiped, so don't use starflea banks parked on Erie.

I'm sorry to say, but if you have multiple accounts this is true. The admins propably won't touch this topic, since it's pinned and informed already. Storage accounts which you use only to transfer money to and from are especially susceptible, so be sure to play and use them for other reasons also.
The topic is here. "Uninterested" accounts get flushed after a week. Other accounts get flushed after 40 days. A player not attached to Discovery admins does keeps a character "first aid" service here. Of course you need to apply beforehand.
From what I gather from other topics (sorry for not linking them now):
a) due to software limitations, DRP 24/7 is run on a PC with only a single core in-use @ 4GHZ during 4.85 beta 4
b) it sustains 5000+ active players, many with 3+ active accounts
c) It's completely free
The answers are on the forums. A lot of people don't have the time or the interest to dwelve too deep to these matters, and IMO even the admins are sometimes taking sides in favor of older players. As an admin of a few IRC channels from 15 years ago, trust me, it's normal when 20 new people join the community every day. You simply can't take everyone into consideration. Discovery isn't open ground either, it's a privately owned and kept server and basically, it's owners can make any choices they want. Still, most of the time, they do it in our, the players', favor.
This would be a good time to start a new thread here on making exceptions when an account clearly has a lot of in-game money, so the admins would notice and discuss this problem you have :) They are known to be just as lenient as they are strict, and even cover your damages from time to time.

So there's no chance they will even possibly restore my account, huh? I mean I don't have anyone on the server to play my accounts. I spent months upon months of 6-8+ hour days just trading and trading and trading...I had hundreds of millions and I was saving all my money. Just when money was starting to get good, my PC dies, and now I am stuck with nothing. There are certainly better ways to get inactive characters off the server, i.e a back up drive where characters are moved to from out of the server vault, character logs, etc. Anything to make it so characters CAN be restored. 40 days is far too short, especially since they won't even let you freeze your characters.
If they can't restore my characters, then I don't know what to do. I can't ever see myself putting in that kind of time again to get where I was before. It was a lot of work, but I kept telling myself it will pay off. Apparently I was wrong?

Well, you can always beg the admins to make an exception this one time. It might work, it might not. I seriously don't know. They won't do it not because it's not possible, but because it requires so much work and people would constantly spam requests unless the immediate answer was a definite no.
In the future, that independent character rejuvenation service is (AFAIK) available and I recommend everyone to use it. And use that FL account manager!

Well, this was my only account...and my only character.
