Jesus, bluntpencil is always in freaking flame arguments about Kusari. A lot of people claim to not take things personally, but I honostly see so many people constantly in these kinds of threads. Sorry to point you out personally- but I'm just trying to make a point in general.
Why don't we just say that with the backing of Samura, and support from Hogoshan allies, the AFA have been attempting to disrupt order in Bretonia in order to help the KNF in their fight. Hogosha, and AFA can act much like Bretonia's Privateers, yet in this instance we arn't legitametly sanctioned by the military factions. But that hardly means they don't strongly support it.
If a civilian force, forced into a life of combat early on by foreign corperations, and then supported by one of the Kusari powerhouses in order to disrupt foreign trade and business competition in Kusari, is it not plausible for them to have some operations against Bretonia aswell? Here we have an organised group of civilians, who are hired thugs who have survived through hard labour, and fought for their business to live in Kusari. This group, funded by a large corperation would feel a much greater threat from foreign military invasion compared to foreign business invasion. Samura, and the AFA thrive off secret deals, and bribes in the government which would not exist under new rule. And inside is a relatively loose term. As it's been stated, the AFA rarely go past Leeds. Even then, with the advent of Gaian bases being added, it's plausible for them to operate in other systems in Bretonia, yet I don't think many of them do.
Now judging from the initial post
Quote:I've seen AFA claiming to be 'defending Kusari', which is great, but in the process, they are defending people that are shipping goods to and from Liberty, which is apparently one of the things the Farmer's Alliance hate most, right?
Just confused a bit here. Might want to amp up the illegal activities in Kusari proper, maybe like the [MR] do in Bretonia.
Farmers alliance do seek to expunge foreign influence in Kusari- especially those who impede on their profits. They do seek donations to their cause. But like it's been mentioned, the AFA are hired, ultranationalistic thugs. They'd rather have one foreigner trading in Kusari than someone who seeks to disrupt the entire house of Kusari and is at war with Kusari. Very much like the mollies, or other bretonian civilians, be it freelancers, or corperations will gladly aid in ridding Bretonia of Kusari Vessels. (I'd say bretonian bounty hunters, but they legitimately have a bounty for Kusari ships in bretonia).
As for the second part, Hogosha are the ones who deal in most of the illegal activities, but it could hardly be compared to the mollies. It's difficult to compare the unlawful factions of each house to eachother, as each roleplay is entirely differant be it Kusari and Bretonia, or Bretonia and Rheinland.
Hakatoa Yamota, Fuku-Honbucho in the Black Dragon Society
From my dealings with the AFA, I have found you all to fight with honour be a very fine set of pilots and fighters and have been an invaluable ally to the Black Dragon Society and in the past few weeks we have fought together and died together as a united front against the forces attacking Kusari.
' Wrote:What's your point? Where's the motivation?
my point is, there are no technical bariers (like whole enemy fleet) for farmes on their way into Leeds.
But I agree their main task is keep foreiginers out of Kusari. Since Kusari now ocupy T31 too, this is imo border where should AFA be without any limits. They should go into Leeds too but only under few conditions like:
1. asked for help
2. meeting with Gaians or KNFs
3. following fleeing target from T31
4. resupply

So, none of those motivations involve taking part in battles on the side of KNF.
I think I either agree or disagree with you both, I'm not entirely sure.
As to the AFA in Leeds, perhaps some definition of their role with regard to the KNF is in order. I'm not sure they should be attacking the BAF's strong point head on, but then can they do their normal thing with such a presence around? I think they should stick to the secure areas of Kusari - all the main systems up to the occupied Taus.
But then I don't think the Privateers should be in New Tokyo much either. The logistics of it seems very much pushing it. They have to operate from several systems away and manage to get farther than everyone else in the BAF, who are getting pushed back? Perhaps more attacks in South Kusari and the independent worlds there? After all, don't you have the entire Bretonian armed forces to take care of the Tau front - why not strike where the trade is coming from where they think they're safe.
