This raises the question:
Why do bombers have missile slots? Isn't their role to bomb capital ships?
Missiles are only used against fighters. Change the gun/missile slots to gun-only slots on bombers.

Lvl 9 gun is in game mechanics exactly the same as lvl 9 missile. So this is not possible unless they get a separate class.

Missiles are fine, mount a cd and laugh as they blow themselves up. If you just missile spam it doesn't work that great, you have to select fire them. Also, as far as cm not working, the best one I mount on my fighters is the improved one and they work great. Ussually only takes one or two to distract the missile if I don't feel like killing it with a CD.
Idea was to do it the other way in the future actually. Change bombers to only use class 6 turrets. And design special line for them. But that's a bit too much at this point.

An idea I had previously would be to make gun-only slots, and then two hybrid Gun/Missile slots for every fighter or bomber. With that in place, we reduce the missile spamming and FORCE people to use guns.

Yes, it is the best method to counter missiles. But right now, if you don't CD you are pretty much garantted to take damage from the missile, no matter how much you evade. Some people I've fought launch them at such a range you simply cannot have time to CD them or launch CMs.
And on the contrary, missile spam does work. Other wise people would not do it.. and people would not complain about it. The skill set it takes to be able to dodge missile spam is a lot harder to obtain than it is to spam missiles, you might not even think about it now, but those that can't do it yet suffer immensely. Missiles in a way are the opposites to guns... it's easier to evade gunfire than it is to aim your guns.

It's safe to say that missiles are not remotely powerfull, when one can fire 1 sidewinder missiles + 2 cannonball missiles + 1 paralyzer missile at npc transport ships multiple times and NOT put a single dent in their shields!!!
Yes they are great against other fighters, and if your willing to sacrifice money and patience to use them, more power to you.
Small reaction training, more experience fighting missile spammers and a CD+CM combo, you can easily blow up any missile spam user by making him implode.
The good point is, the stronger the missiles the faster he will blow up himself.

It's not just spammers, it's missiles in general. Even when fired sparingly, they are just too accurate especially when launched at around 300m. CDs do help, against spammers. Not against someone who randomly fires them. Using missiles well is much easier than using guns well. And when they are not spammed, but varied a bit, they are pretty much impossible to dodge.
