The Bretonian HF has been getting beaten by Eagles(because, I was suprised to hear, the eagles (VHF) were outturning our paladins (HF). So, I looked at the numbers. Paladin and the Eagle are about the same size, have the same number of guns...
Turning:
Paladin 1.2561 rad/sec max, .4109 0-.5, .4268 time 90%
Eagle 1.3049 rad/sec max, .4084 0-.5, .4717 time 90%
Sooo...I understand that the Eagle is a manuverable VHF, but I'd have thought it would have been an interesting baseline for comparison. Is the only thing the Paladin is better at than the eagle turn acceleration?
The Eagle is well known for being one of the best dog fighters. Check the strafe as well. But in the end, it all comes down to the ability of the pilot, not the ship.

You DO realize that the Paladin is an HF, not a VHF, right? And that this means that a VHF is more maneuverable than a comparably sized HF?

I agree. Let's scale it down. Then we can go from there.

I heard the Wrath was the best now.
I've never flown an Eagle for more than the time it took me to fly to Vogtland and get my Sabre back. So I can't really comment on its' capabilities. It doesn't make much sense to me that a civilian ship would be superior to military technology either... but oh well.
