Precisely. And not just capships, but other top-line equipment such as armor boosters and Novas run into the millions.
But more importantly missions are the most effective way to adjust your rep. Sure you could just vape enemies, but it takes *a lot* longer, and hey why not get paid for it too...
As for lag and tradelanes.... may be something to do with the fact TL's never get busted when you're on a mission. (That would be a real PITA). The server must keep track somehow, notifying all NPC to *not* break the relevant TLs, and thus using more CPU cycles doing so.
Yea, I have noticed that a Normaly Hostile NPC patrol, are white to me when I fly durring missions. I guess they don't want you to be hindered while your off killing other stuff.
Hemi, this is the Discovery mod, this is how its been planned to work. People actually enjoy trading, and the
rewards are there for them to benefit.
Why does everyone come here and immediately want to change it to the server they left, where they did it

I think Marauder it's a timing thing... you're given a certain time limit (10 minutes say) where all non-mission enemies appear neutral. I noticed that when returning from a quick mish all enemies are still white, even ones attacking the base you're landing at. (Soon as you launch they're red again.)
Furthermore all NPC's are kept out of your mission area for as long as the it takes. Once I took nearly an hour doing a mish (killing Titans in a Drake -- all I could do was continuously hack away at the monsters), in which time I was not hassled by anyone else.
That ties one with a statement on another thread, where server load increases because your mission is "mulitplied" over all systems in Sirius -- to take care of the missions which take you to another system I guess.

I had a major "beg" post over in the suggestions thread a while back... I really, really hope that we can be able to make money through missions!
