First of all I would like to say that this is a great feature and I am very glad to see it implemented. It adds a lot to the game and I think it may do a fair amount to change gameplay.
May I ask though, why does it only function in first person view. I assume there is a good reason for this and I am wondering what it is. I am also wondering if it can be bypassed so the feature can work in third person view.
Yes, please, auto-leveling needs to be disabled. I can't count the number of times my tradeship has gotten spun around by NPCs ramming me, shooting missiles, dropping mines, etc. If auto-leveling was turned off, at least I could get control of the ship.
Roll control was definately missing to fly in style and its great its implemented now although I havent checked it yet.
Ok probly Im not first to ask for it and its impossible to implement without htew original sourecode, but, I want a feature that:
-records the usercommands + networkcommands, so it can later be used to render a high resolution perfect framerate video in non-real time to make some very nice videos.
Program it!!!
ps: oh.. and why not make cap ships not turn when they get rammed... you did it with the asteroids... program it!!!

It adds some flavor and is convenient in some situations, but it seems to be much too slow to be of much use in combat (at least for the light fighter I have tried it on so far).

You can turn it off. I believe by default the command to turn it off is unmapped, but if you map it it's a simple matter of toggling. It should not be locked off, in my opinion, as it is quite useful in many situations.

The anti-spinning in use on capital ships in the Freeworlds mod seems quite good. It keeps the capital ship completely stationary and instead lets collider models overlap with the collidee models as they get damaged.
Not to mention it's not available while in mouse flight? So basically, straight line, first person.
Honestly, that's how it should be; simply for ****s and giggles. The ramifications of being able to roll in a combat situation joust are a little unnerving.
