Well then, in that case the LSF (or me at least) will be glad to oblige your suicidal tendencies. However, I do have to say that sending your preachers out in nomad light fighters is not the best idea ever.
Quote:They are an alien species with the goal of exterminating the human race.
This is what makes people here narrow minded and what we repeated on countless occasions but people never listen. Nomads don't give a damn about humans, they don't want to exterminate them, they want to remove them from Sirius. Killing is not the only way to remove them. Espionage, causing wars, extermination and many other ways exist. This is why most people react pew pew to us. They all think, wrongly I might add, that we're out there just to kill everyone. This is something we have to teach all the new recruits in the Keepers quite often so they don't do it like most, if not all, of the nomad trials.
If the goal is the "remove" humans from Sirius, the only two ways to do it is to kill all the humans, or kill enough of them and force the rest to get into colony ships and go somewhere else. Now, you don't need to do all the killing directly, obviously, but humanity won't make war on itself to the point of extinction.
That's a very narrow viewpoint, not entirely uncorrect, but rather narrow, instead of focusing on that its better to try and come up with different solutions. Otherwise all you will always get is just pvp from everyone. As Treewyrm said, not everyone wants to just murder the nomads, some may admire them, some may want to be like them, some people are curious, and some want to just kill them. It's how humanity works. You can't say that they're out to exterminate everyone and humans are out to exterminate them just because you think like that. Different people might have different opinions.
Hawkwings, the whole history of Sirius colonists is quite rich with conflicts small and large, and before the exodus just as much where the last one nearly drove a half of it to extinction. Nomads were never near those, it's just what humanity does on it's own, as always it were. Ultimately there been wars, there are and always will be wars. Overall driving itself to the extinction with ever new weapons of mass destruction developed, and again facing the time when they have to run from themselves. And frankly I don't see how the lack of real world example of the Nomads justifies as auto-enemy to every human being. Once again I'd like to remind that in SP campaign players never really were told why Nomads do what they do and why they are doing it, apart from very vague speech from Tekagi. To be honest it's not interesting when all you get is having that simplified stamp "you are to exterminate human race" plastered artificially by others, it really limits roleplay capabilities, which is why, for example, the shackles were broken as regards interaction with Outcasts, giving some interesting opportunities. I start to wonder if some simply use that stamp just to have PvP and nothing else. Instead I'd be glad if more players would see the opportunity of variety of interactions possible there, making under the desk shady deals and so forth. Because like I said - there are definitely those who'd benefit from them, directly or indirectly, LSF too, because it's not just black and white roles around. And rather than simplifying everything to two dimensional interactions and petty stereotypes which kept plaguing this community more and more (not even regards the Nomads, but it's a much bigger issue) ultimately narrowing the roleplay interactions to engagement notices and nothing else. So, tell me, is this where it all comes and boils down to? Personally I seriously thought about it all, if I weren't - trust me there wouldn't been a nomad faction around. Hell a lot of a risk, and most certainly facing stereotype wars and all that given the fact the nomads were never portrayed by actual players ever before, but that's what I signed up for here nearly two years ago, and that's why I am talking, to you as well.
If I remember correctly there were numerous posts about Nomad-Human interaction but really what you say maybe true but in the end no matter how much rp before the pvp comes it all boils to one side ending up dead. That may not be the case all the time but if you'r not that dangerous to us the order wouldn't risk their lives every day to stop you from spreading all over again.I mean sure there are lot's of possibility to do something else but that sadly rarely happens.About the morphs we were told by tenacity at the start what ship the "newbies"get.Civilian ones with civilian weapons....But now seems that there are more morphs then regular preachers which surprise me since i though that this kind of "breed"in oracles would be rare....
And I would like that treewyrm post was all true in reality but it ain't that much done by players..Glory to exceptions. And last but not least:So what do we do now?To get this going in right direction?
Well, we can't tell you how to do your RP, my suggestion would be that you get rid of all but one morphs or get rid of them entirely, base the faction purely as human worshipers of nomads like it should be. Therein lies much more RP and much more sense than this what it is now. I'd prefer if you had no morphs at all and just RPed normally as humans, the nomads would pretty much leave you alone then, and you'd get a chance to fly with us and speak to them anyway. They would ignore those which aren't a threat. But again, this is only a suggestion. I know you guys want to somehow become the Keeper recruitment thread of sorts, like that you school our nomad trials, but frankly we're doing just fine without that, we invite and recruit those who we like, and those who show great RP. And we see all of the trials and how they RP, we pay quite a lot of attention to them. It's not all in the nomad RP to be honest. The last person we recruited, can't say his name, but he never set foot in a nomad char, however he RPed with us a lot on his human character and he got an instant invite. So try something like that if you really want advice, and if not well...you can always go your path, perhaps that'll work too somehow?
Treewyrm: even in the alliance vs coalition war, there was no threat of humanity getting wiped out. In the nomad war, they showed the governments and large factions of Sirius that yes, there was a good chance that they could wipe humanity out. Yes, there are going to be those few people that don't want to shoot nomads on sight. My point is that no well-organized lawful (and most unlawfuls) faction is going to have "talk to nomads, instead of shooting them" as part of their policy. From my point of view, the Oracles, the humans that preach the benefits of Nomads, are likened to the random crazies that bother you, instead of something to take more seriously. My character's point of view would be "Oh, interesting how self-deluded they've become."
Of course, that changes when the Oracles are flying a nomad ship. Crazies in starblazers are one thing, but crazies flying nomad ships is far different.
