' Wrote:Come on there war a WAR going on which affected all houses, the whole Sirius sector.
I think the whole issue is the interpretation of the roleplay of the Nomads in common.
They are just living machines who act as keepers.
From my point of view the current development is going into the wrong direction.
All over the last releases we got some kind of development oven to all but exclusive to the Nomands.
As an old Evolutions and Nomads Revenge player i have to say that is and was wrong.
I agree that Nomad players need monitoring to ensure a good roleplay basis but perhaps the whole approach to this topic (Nomad, Order), regarding gameplay, was wrong?
That was a different server with I believe a different mod. This is Discovery, and this is how we do it.
Alright we have had some good discussions over skype and All I will say here is there are going to be BIG changes... I will update the main post when we have something more concrete.
...I never thought I'd be saying something like this...
I've just had a chance to read what you have so far, and... honestly? It kinda disturbs me.
Let me go over the things that jump out at me briefly.
Quote:Seekers:
Seekers are those who have not yet been permitted to join the Oracles, but wish to. Seekers are those pilots, tradesmen, and even militants throughout Sirius who have heard the call of the Shrine - or who have had their minds opened to it by an Oracle Speaker - and have begun their journey to discover the Shrine's location and learn it's secrets. Seekers come from all walks of life, but in the end have the same purpose: joining the Oracles, and gaining a life of coexistence with the universe.
From the Wikipedia article History of the Quakers:
Quote:From 1652 onward (George) Fox was closely associated with an earlier, very loosely organized movement of religious dissenters, the Seekers. Seekers typically believed that there was no true church in existence, and resigned themselves to waiting for God to reestablish his kingdom, either spiritually or temporally. They had many practices that were similar to the emerging Quaker movement; they had discarded all ceremony in worship and begun the practice of silent meetings which, as Fox rapidly gained followers among the Seekers, became the practice of Friends.
In other words, Seekers are at this point, both a kind of proto-Quaker and a kind of proto-Nomad.
I guess the rest of my 'objections' if that's what they are, stem around the surface level similarity between reaching decisions by consensus (the Quaker way of doing things) and reaching them via telepathic link (also a kind of consensus).
Now, a confession. I'm as guilty of Nomad-hating as Tinkerbell is. I was comfortable with seeing the Oracles as simple human dupes of the nomads. So at least part of this uncomfortable feeling in my gut is from realizing that, far from being simple, they do have a high and lofty goal in mind...sort of. BUT. Is there a chance that there exists someone who only knows the Quaker oats guy, reading all about the Oracles, then finds out a bit about Quakers and says 'oh, they're just like them Oracle folks'?
I realize that at this time you are making a lot of changes to this faction. I hope there is room in your plans for what I have to say. Or in Quaker words: I hope that we can reach clearness over this issue by recognizing that the Spirit moves us all in different ways. :)

I have to admit, when I hear the name "Quaker" I think of oatmeal. So, the similarities are merely coincidental. Or are they?
Either way, once the ranking system is in place we will likely be a bit more like the Ori in stargate. Also, seekers are a blanket term applied to anyone looking for the Shrine. They interact with oracles little if at all.

Alright. I'll be watching this space with great interest for future developments.

We call "Seekers" "pilgrims".. or sometimes "cabbages".
Now, if apologies are due over my failure to understand that "metagaming thread" of a few days back, this is your chance to "convert" me through "clearness".
Other than that, Eris doesn't hold a patent on Religion in Sirius. I shall be watching with interest.
After a nice long discussion with one of your Oracles, I've come away with no more information than this post gives, the Shrine can provide and the Nomad lore can give. I'm also now a bit frustrated as apparantly logic is a lie and my mind is too closed for it all.
I find the encouragement of co-existence with a potentially very hostile faction that even the Oracles don't understand themselves to be a very dangerous idea.
Also, the Oracle in question stated some things that directly contradicted the Nomad Lore. That may be intentional but it would be nice to know in a way.
All in all, not so much impressed to be honest. I came away knowing no more but infact finding flaws in the logic of it all. So a negative roleplay experience unfortunately:(

You could have just dropped it when I told you I wasn't going to discuss the nomads with you...
Quote:All Oracles are forbidden under any circumstances to discuss with outsiders "The Masters" or the nomads/wild,
This is what I was saying you didn't seem to understand. Although, I don't see why I should quote it here because you didn't get it the first 5 times in game...
I simply wondered why a group would encourage co-existence with a species that has shown huge amounts of hostility to Humans while not even understanding them anyway?
All in all, the logic of the Oracles does seem flawed. You don't want to share your knowledge of the Nomads yet want to encourage people to co-exist with them? When all they have shown is hostility?
