' Wrote:But killing something in a sleeper ship would be like killing a battleship in a transport.
More like cruisers in a Luxury Liner, I'd think. Something that big would at least have huge shields, if not guns, and they had the remainder of the fleet giving the valiant last stand. I'd say a Sleeper ship was close to a blockade plow than a blockade runner. Sure, it's designed to get past with as much as possible without being caught and destroyed, but it's big and powerful enough to push past a small fleet by its lonesome.
Also, I believe I saw somewhere that the sleeper ships that were shot to hell were blown up in the midst of launching, not while actually in space.
Quote:No trustworthy information is present right now about the origins of the Gallic house, since our records indicate that the French sleeper ship was destroyed along with Italian and Australian sleeper ships prior to the day when Liberty, Bretonia, Kusari, Rheinland and Hispania launched from Jupiter.
From Jupiter? How do you launch a ship from a gas giant? Looks like somebody should educate himself a bit about astronomy.
From the looks of it, the Sleeper ships launched from one of Jupiter's moons. Titan, most likely. Everyone loves Titan. Although I can't remember if that's the ice one or the gassy one.
But anyway, my 2 theories are this:
The other Sleeper Ships were destroyed before liftoff
or
They launched, but they launched to a different sector.
Also, according to the wiki, Liberty launched first to arrive in Sirius. But unless it's that ship that goes into the blockade first, there's no way it could have started before the other ships. Even if it was the first ship, there was only a few seconds between its FTL Jump and the other ship's FTL Jumps.
Titan as a Jupiter moon will award you a Nobel prize one day.
The sleeper ships launched from Ganymede. About all the rest, maybe you actually could read the news? Some contain more details than the extract I posted here.
I'll try to read the Gallic News during the next few days. Right now, this is what I think:
Quote:During the Exodus, there were actually eight sleeper ships. The other three belonged to France, Italy, and Australia. These ships were also the first to launch, but they were destroyed before they could escape. Luckily, the remaining Italian and Australian colonists managed to join the Hispania and the Bretonia. However, the French could not find another ship to escape to Sirius. Therefore, they were left behind. Over time, the French began to see this as abandonment by the Alliance, so they secretly constructed another sleeper ship and left for Sirius, hoping to gain revenge.
I wrote a Freelancer fanfiction with the Discovery Mod in it and this is my interpretation of the events. It's basically providing background info to the rest of the story.
