You mean the whole 2 turrets it can fire back? That is certainly more than 7 + gun forward /7 back on the Liberty cruiser (though yes one of them rotates around a bit).
What about BHG dessie? More armor, 8 turrets back and 8 forward. Slightly bigger, almost as fast.
I also have to wonder how you "compesate armor", sure cap 8 Kusari Dessie will have more armor than cap 4 Liberty Cruiser, but is that a way to compare ships? That's a bit like mounting lvl 8 guns on your VHF and saying that one with lvl 9s guns has more firepower.
I own all 3 of these cruisers. All 3 can be really fun.
BHG destroyer is by far the most universal of them.
Liberty Cruiser is awesome at hitting BS/heavy cruisers.
Kusari Destroyer is awesome at fighting noobs.

the destroyer is tiny, while the battleship is super huge. hopefully my battlecruiser model gets accepted, and bridges the gap between small and big as a medium size and agility.
having said that, the kusari ships rely on speed to survive and are thus nimble fast and have small powerplants, while bretonian ships are built as tanks, being slower but with more firepower, armour, and bigger powerplants.
the kusari destroyer is VERY weak if you get behind it, since it has less backward facing turrets. granted, due to its size and agility its a bit hard, but remember to use CDs effectively, and as a team, and chances are the destroyer would be blown up more efficiently.

meh...:DAlso if you fail at loadouting it (like me) a bretonian destroyer can kill it without loosing shield...

i've always thought it was a bit too small. i'm not sure what the fix needs to be. i've not flown one so i'm not sure about it's powerplant but with it being so small i would imagine that it should have a powerplant only slightly bigger than a GB. an agility decrease? it's super tiny, both width and height. i'd almost say it needs a new model truthfullly.
from experience capship weapons are extemely difficult to hit it with, even regular turrets seem too slow to hit them. i bet they could easily just circle around a bigger ship without fear of being hit enough to cause any serious damage.
they are by far one of the most difficult ships to fight. not so much because of there firepower but because you can't hit them.

Surely the bret gb should be more powerful than it then? NO, it isn't, seems a little off
That is without any doubt, TRUE.
If anything, Br gunboat should be transformed into a destroyer, because so far as I can tell, Kusari Destroyer can do circles around it while firing mortars and being superior in just about everything. It flies and feels....sort of like a............Rheinland Gunboat!? Br GB works great for target practice tho

One might say such is Digital Anvil... as it was them who made both ships.
To anyone who says how Kusari dessie is so uber. If you want to try drop me a PM, you'll get one and a free choice of inRP weaponry on the test server. I will fly Bretonian Destroyer. You might be surprised how it ends.

Perhaps they intended Bretonian Gunboat to be more powerful. Does it really matter whether it's called dessie or gunboat?
Let me put it this way: How can a small destroyer be more armored, better shielded and mostly, carry a stronger power generator than a much, much bigger Gunboat?
