We shouldn't stop at Battleships, imho, but the cutoff point is Cruisers. Battleships are like the elephant; they're big, loud and destructive. Cruisers are like velociraptors; smaller, but faster, much more numerous and vicious. Everything else is 'small beans' in this community's eyes.

The wording is important, and I mention freedoms because they are a different thing to rights. Mention rights and a bomb goes off. Seriously, Nobody has any "Rights" on this server. Not one. Only those who pay for and operate it out of the goodness of their hearts. Igiss and majkp are the only two people I would say have any "Rights" to do whatever the hell they want with this server.

Everything else is our "freedom" to act within certain boundaries. The boundaries are set and defined by those with the "Rights", but they have allowed "us" as a community to have a say, and have delegated certain "powers" and responsibilities to our <strike>nannies</strike> admins. Understanding that you (generic) as a visitor have no "rights" whatsoever on this server and it will go a long way to calming many stupid and unnecessary squabbles.

So again I ask, what is our freedoms as individual players on this server? Because it really does not make a difference if you are in a faction or not. Are we going to have one person, or faction, determine what ships we can fly? Are we going to have more rules about you can and cannot do based on someone else's perspective? I am not asking these rhetorically, I really would like to know, because up until this point it has not been clear. sanctions have been flip-flopping all over the place, BECAUSE we as a community has not resolved this.

Do I trust these current leaders? Yes I do. But I remember Tony, and various other things that THIS community has done. I remind this community of what it is capable of, when it's all over just a computer game. You can lose friendships and things get nasty, because issues like this are buried, or shouted down, instead of talked through and the points addressed. It is seriously not worth losing friendships and the nastiness that happens when things are misunderstood from the outset.

Do I trust the admins to do their job? Yes I do. But more clarity is needed. Perhaps, this is a way of getting some work off the admins and onto the faction leaders? I'm all for that outcome, but not this method. I'm opposed to "battleship" regulation by faction leader control, since it begs the question, "why stop there only at battleships? Why not make faction joining compulsory and put all power like that into a factions hands? Since it should in theory take more work out of admins hands." HOWEVER, I say lets try the battleship in faction leader control for 3 months or so and see what happens. There is too much theory and too much talk, when experimentation and "play" is needed. Less talk, more do.

God, I hate talks like this.

My intent was to suggest that people, including yourself, are taking this too seriously, and that Athenian was right in that only critical judgement, without positive ideas, isn't helping.

The positive ideas, which are being suggested, appear to be getting close attention from Dieter, who is making changes when he sees something good.

In that case I'll re-mention something that I fell needs clarity (just in case it got overlooked.)

Can official players tax unofficial or independent players of the same NPC faction who are correctly ID'ed and Tagged, if the owned system is not a guard system? (I'm not up to play on the server so this is a legit question.) (common sense tells me "no", but I would like to see it in writing. >.>

I really don't know how to take this all in.

I am a Indie in most part. I have 5 ships one is a LN the rest belonging to no faction.

The only reason I registered the LNS is to receive the LNS for my Cruiser. No additional requirements were needed simple and to the point. Register and play. That was easy. If it did not get registered it is just the same; I could fly around with the same ship just without the LNS tag.

Now I have a Hacker BS, totally indie and no accounting to a faction. I like not being part of factions. I respect the rules and requirements and try to be in rp and in character. What I am disturbed about is what it seems now is if you want a ship you join a faction. If you already have a BS (which I do) you must join a faction or lose your BS lic. Well I think that’s a bunch of BS.

I worked hard and long for my ship, to just to be taken away by some faction I dont know. In addition I have no wishes in joining a Faction. I don’t want the HF or LH tag. I am not particularly fond of either faction. This is why I am independent. An independent can do just as well or better than people who are fractioned. I am not here to be outranked or told or ordered to do something by someone in a faction, I have that in real life. (I don’t mind playing in rp or char with faction players it can be fun, I just have no intentions of joining more factions.)

I just want to log and play. What a concept right!? To play.. and to have fun.
