And all they had to do to remedy that was make it load smaller portions of the map at a time. Plenty of the towns and dungeons are a large-ish size, and Fallout 3, AKA Oblivion With Guns, does not suffer from this problem. I guess they must have learned from past mistakes.

I liked II. Didn't buy III.
Okay, I lied. The demo of II sucked, mostly 'cause it was running at like, 12 FPS on my old computer and when I got my first building I was being bum-rushed by a bajillion people. But I liked the whole game.
Quote:EVE (biggest dissapointmen in my gaming life, you have to be a Space Engineer, to set up a ship, and a trained monkey for fighting)
Ha! Good man. Worst 7 day trial and three gigs I ever used up. Well, actually I played for a couple of hours on the first day, gave up, then five days later I tried again - only to realize why I stopped.
Quote:Has to be Oblivion. It certainly wasnt the 'worst' game ever, but was the biggest disappointment. I expected far more considering both the length of time we had to wait and the original massive scope and content of morrowind. I think bethesda got lazy and decided to just leave the game to the modders.
Better man! I don't care if these posts are a month old, I just found this thread and will be spamming accordingly. Morrowind was the bestest evar.
Quote:All 3 of the games below had huge potential.
All 3 of the games had interesting ideas
All 3 games ballsed them up
Masters of Orion 3
Black & White
Civ 3
Mmm, I disagree. Black & White pwnt. Even if it was impossible on that one level with the big storm and 3 enemy creatures. Oh, and the constantly spewing fireballs reigning down from somewhere.
Quote:The ultimate failure, though? World of Warcraft. Piggybacked on the reputation of Frozen Throne, then violated its storyline and left it screaming in a ditch.
I lol'd.
Quote:Agreed. 100%.
Oblivion just seemed so.. Dull. And for how pretty they tried to make it, even THAT was dull. I got bored of staring at the same bunch of bushes during the first five minutes of the game.
Aye, not to mention the level'd creatures and loot? Wtf? I wanna be able to get mauled by an Ascended Sleeper fresh off the boat, not face rats. Then goblins. Then bandits. Then better goblins. Then weak Deadra... There was no challenge to the game. And even if you turned the difficulty up, all it ended with was a porquipine with 600 arrows in it or a sore middle finger from bashing right trigger (on the SmexBox). Although, I did like the stealth aspect of Oblivion. But other than that, watered down combat, dumbed down skills (since when is an Axe a blunt weapon?), easily boostable skills... It was... *sigh* Pointless.
Quote:My main problem with Oblivion is the lack of Vaults to break into and make yourself rich/fully equip yourself. Really, is everyone in Cyrodil that damned poor?
Also true. The House buildings in Vivec rox0red. ZOMG! And pursuasion actually did something worth while in Morrowind. I don't want to make somebody like me more by making fun of them, then swinging a dial around and threatening them. I wanna taunt them into attacking me, bribe them into liking me, or honestly compliment them. There's not alot else you can do realistically...
And I liked the open world of Morrowind... None of this load screen every time you wanna enter a city. Sure, you'd get a short "Loading Terrain" now and then, but its better than a full-blown load screen. That coupled with the objective arrows? The game practically played itself. There was no challenge.
Quote:MY TURN!
Really though. My number one disappointment(s) are Halo 2 and 3.
Wtf were they thinking? Were they so drowned in fan boys and money that they forgot everything that made Halo: CE great? Did the money get to their heads so much that Cortana had to wear progressively less digital covering with greater definement of features to lure in nerds with underdeveloped social skills?
And why did they bail on the Halo 1 pistol? Okay, three headshot kill at a rediculous fire rate - granted. But then they replace it with the Battle Rifle. Its time for a reality check, ladies and gentlement.
The old pistol: 3 Headshot kill --- The BR: 3 headshot kill
The old pistol: 12 round mag --- The BR: 36 round mag at 3 round burst. i.e. 12 shots
The old pistol: 2x zoom --- The BR: 2x zoom
The story suffered emmensely (while still managing to be the better half of the game:dry:) and the multiplayer was full of a bunch of pre-pubescant, "ZOMG I PWNT U NEWB! Y U SUQ? LOLOLOLOL, UR MAWM VISUTED MEH HOUZ!"
Gah! I hate those games. They're sorry excuses for what they could have been.
Vannila Freelancer. That was so rushed......... DIsco made FL the best game evar tho. Seriously,. the paralyzer was in vanilla, but there was no launcher, only missles. They wanted tro do so much moar. The creator of FL, had a disco like world in mind. We have preety much fininshed his vision
Okay, I lied. The demo of II sucked, mostly 'cause it was running at like, 12 FPS on my old computer and when I got my first building I was being bum-rushed by a bajillion people. But I liked the whole game.
I have EEII, I love that game.
EE III, not all that good. They really watered the thing down.
EDIT@Above: Sorry, but the creators dream of Freelancer was actually nothing like what disco is, since disco is still for all means an purposes vanilla with added elements. If you want to see what he had in mind for the game just you tube up the really old promos, Disco is just an expansion pack.
Okay. I wasn't going to point it out... but nobody else has...
*creeps out into the spotlight*
Spore.
Once again, it is a fairly epic game... But it's absolutely nothing even resembling what I saw when I read about it in a gaming magazine several years ago.
My expectations were really really high for Spore. And I would have lived with what it is now... Had it been released on it's original release date. Two-ish years ago. But EA set back the date over and over, and it eventually reached the point where I thought it wouldn't be released. And finally, they released it. The day it came out, I flew to the nearest Best Buy and bought it. I've never driven so fast in my entire life. When I installed it and started playing it... I thought it was an alright product. Up until the blasphemous monotony of the space age. Really, EA? Really?
I'm somewhat patiently waiting (AGAIN) for the add-on to be released on the 23rd. Hopefully that will make Spore the game it should have been. Maybe if we're lucky EA will release it before next Christmas. Fingers crossed, everyone.
