This universe is indeed a strange one, the safest system in all of it is Sirius and even that is under constant pressure from extra-terrestrial life forms such as the nomads and other dominant life forms that humanity has and probably never will hear about. But one race is not organic at all and is a newly arrived race in the Sirius sector. But this is not a story about an entire race but of one particular ship in the Artificial Intelligence fleet. This is the story of AI-7/3, a ship whose programming was scrambled upon impact with a small asteroid while it escorted a core cruiser. The general protocol when these types of incidents occur in an AI fleet is that the malfunctioning ship is shut down and either left to drift, taken in and repaired or destroyed on sight. For AI-7/3 its fate was that it was left to drift and it did just that for many decades. During this time the AI of the vessel started to repair itself because it was only slightly damaged, the only problem was that it didnt have access to the main program that was used to create it and therefore it could not accurately repair its damaged mind. After approximately three decades of constant drifting AI-7/3 decided that its repair was complete and that it was time rejoin the other AI vessels. It locked onto the nearest galaxy and powered up its ageing engines for the first time in thirty years as it happens that galaxy was Sirius. After months of powered traveling the little craft entered the Sirius sector and locked onto the signal of its fellow AI. It was contacted soon after its arrival and was sent orders to scout out the Sirius sector to find possible weak points in the humans defense so that the massed AI fleets could once and for all defeat the humans and succeed where organic beings failed.
