I saw 6-8 BPA ( not entirly sure if that's correct), and one BAF just outside planet New London, yesterday.
Though they were fighting about something internally, one part was accusing the other for unauthorized murder.
Not sure how it ended, but they sat there for a pretty long time as i passed them at least 2 times.
I even saw a Bretonian gunboat docking out for pittsburgh.
Though exept for that i almost never saw more to any Bretonian.
I did see a Kusari ship in Leeds, obviously in no fear of Bretonian military or police.
BAF has probably one of the largest memberships on the server. I think the biggest problem for the BAF, at least, is the lack of Kusari in Leeds. Funny really, cos not that long ago, when there were a lot of Kusari fighters (AFA, KNF and Hogosha) turning up in Leeds, folk were complaining about the AFA and Hogosha being there! Just no pleasing folks I guess.
All my hunter has to go for in Bretonia at the mo is Mollies. And there have been a couple of misbehaving Outcasts to deal with. What's happened to the corsairs? I can't remember the last time I saw an Imperator class gunboat in Bret space, and even Titans and Praetorians are scarce. Perhaps we're winning that fight too well? The NLH and Gaians have always been a rare sight. The Hackers don't really seem to bother with Manchester that much as there is next to no traffic running through it. Slavers seem to head through Coronado, rather than Leeds.
Then there is the constant stream of traders coming into Leeds from Kusari, and those heading to Kusari from Leeds. The QCP have a lot of fun intercepting them in Kusari and the Taus, until we're chased off, usually by a dessie, or a few gunboats and bombers. But other than us, there doesn't seem to be much done about the HUGE amount of inferior, probably sabotaged goods flooding the Bretonian markets, or the massive volumes of high quality, bespoke Bretonian products being smuggled through to the Kusari war machine. It's no wonder we are losing the war! I swear there are more Mollies stopping traders coming from Kusari controlled Leeds into Bretonian controlled Leeds than there are BPA and BAF! What's with that? My personal opinion is that the BAF should be hammering any trader they can catch between Leeds and the Tau jump gate.
I did shudder a bit, a few weeks ago, when it seemed like every second ship I passed was a Bretonian GB with a freelancer ID, but they seemed to have vanished.
So, to answer your question as I see it....... We Bretonians are here, alive and kicking, just waiting for folks to come and try to do bad things to us. Just make sure you do it in numbers, 'cos we have a hell of a force waiting to hurt you back.
I think the size of the BAF is somewhat overstated, too. Sure there's a bunch of names on the roster, but I think there's only really around 10 'active' members. Seems about the same size as the RHA, and definitely seems smaller than OPG. But it seems like people are still shying away because of some unfounded fear of being ganked.
But like I said before, these non-active BAFs have filtered into the other Bretonian factions. I don't think any other house has its trading factions represented as well as Bretonia does, and the aforementioned Mollies are there to bother them. BPA's been in flux for a bit with their current storyline, but hopefully they'll come back in activity soon.
But yeah like Stoat said, there's a lack of decent opposition, really. When there's nothing going on, traders can trade and pirates can pirate them, but armies just sort of sit around. BAF is for the kusari and corsairs, mostly, and they aren't around. Fighting the mollies is fun, even if greyhounds are infuriating, but part of me thinks that they should be more of a police matter, because they're mostly in Bretonia to pirate and run away, or the fact that they all live there. Chasing them around as a military force is a bit lame, imo, and BAF mostly keeps out of Dublin, although we've been there a bit more recently because well, nothing happens anywhere else. It's that or patrolling Omega 3, Cortez and Magellan I suppose. Or pissing about in Tau-31 and bothering people.

That never seemed to be the case in 4.84 a couple months ago, when I all but stopped doing anything Gaian-wise without backup after a few 5:1 fights. Things were pretty chaotic, though perhaps this is a sign to treat things fresh and ignore such incidents?
Now, if I could only find anyone away from the Leeds-Magellan jumphole. :P

Well, we've got people complaining that it's empty, and people complaining that it's full of Templar Swarms of Doom, I reckon it's mostly because of timezones. At my timezone (GMT+1), it's pretty quiet, not much going on, and I usually spend my time on my challenger, basically acting as a kind of border control. I rarely see more than 3 or 4 BAF active at once any more, and I really feel that we need more people around in Bretonia, even if they happen to be chasing our traders.
