[18:48:35] Gurjiv (Frozen) Singh says: i just saw that picture again
[18:48:41] Gurjiv (Frozen) Singh says: if thats going to be the falcata replace
[18:48:50] Gurjiv (Frozen) Singh says: and it has a perfect hitbox
[18:48:54] Panzer says: Replace
[18:48:55] Gurjiv (Frozen) Singh says: thats going to be the red cat mk 2.
[18:48:56] Panzer says: Please
[18:49:01] Panzer says: For the love of god
[18:49:03] Panzer says: REPLACE!
[18:49:17] mikeymeister (exile) says: Falcate looks like crap. Who made it anyway
[18:49:36] Panzer says: Legeonation
[18:49:41] Panzer says: or whatever it's spelled
[18:50:55] Gurjiv (Frozen) Singh says: its got a tiny frame, its shorter than the falcata, its got less pieces connecting parts to the main body, all in all, it seems frail, and the stats proposed in that thread point it in the light-medium bomber direction, which is thus going to make that pretty dangerous, and spammed like the red cat, and since it'll be classed as a borderworlds bomber, all the more reasons for pretty much any pirate to use, including factions on the corsair side to an extent.
[18:56:15] Gurjiv (Frozen) Singh says: the best way to fix this, as yuri pointed out:
[18:56:18] Gurjiv (Frozen) Singh says: [18:52:14] Yuri (Treewyrm) says: gurji, make ship's leg a little more bigger
[18:52:25] Yuri (Treewyrm) says: and wings slightly thicker
[18:52:27] Yuri (Treewyrm) says: just slightly
[18:56:57] Gurjiv (Frozen) Singh says: the circular frame could do with a bit more "meat", and like the falcata, perhaps connect the top part of the main body to the center point of the circular frame at the top.
those are my concerns after i saw the comparison shot again. i think they need to be addressed, unless someone can prove to me otherwise.
To be brutally honest the model is a BW kitbash, a Saber with a flimsy arch that serves no real purpose thrown onto the top.
I know you have skill enough to throw on an arch, which suggests you have the skill and doubtless the artistic vision to conceptualize something that will serve as a greater compliment to your abilities.
The Falc, for its model failings (namely its blimp qualities due to a mistake on the modeler's part) possesses some character and really nice unique texture work. I don't think this current design it a suitable replacement for his efforts.

Isn't this sort of the point? After all what's the difference between a Sabre and a Stilleto? Just some pointless flimsy pieces attaching the wings to the base.
almost all FL vanilla fighters are, what you call it...kitbash?....
true...but they are like so only cause of breakable parts...kitbash in that case reduces game size and loading and improves performance...
although we are not able to make such precise destroyable parts, we should still follow some of FLs basic design lines if we want to keep vanilla feeling to disco

We could use the current falcata hitbox I suppose. The models are nearly the same size, and it should fit snuggly inside the old hit-box.

Yes, it is a kitbash. And it's not a modified Sabre. It's a modified Stiletto.
When I look at this ship I don't feel like 'this is a ship that I made' like when I fly the Greyhound. It feels like I'm flying a Vanilla ship, as if it had always been there. That, I think, is the feeling we should be aiming for when creating ships for Discovery.
EDIT:
Frozen, in regards to your concerns about the Cutlass being the new 'catamaran' I made the effort to plug my broken PC in and take this comparison screenshot.
Hopefully that'll either confirm or remove your concerns about it.
