Captain Redline here.
Well, as mr Patterson already stated, there was an attack on Norfolk just half an hour ago. a massive attack.
the attacking Hacker force, combined with outcasts consisted of some bombers, a lot of fighters and several gunboats. to top it off they brought a Spyglass
The LPI was on site, but severly outgunned. later some navy arrived. My Siege Cruiser was the primary target for the Spyglass so I moved around and took a defense position underneath the Missouri. from there I ordered a full bombardment on the Spyglass. My cruiser simply doesn`t have enoug firepower to deal with a battlsehip of that magnitude.
1 by 1 more Navy ships arrived, even some cruisers, but they were all destroyed, as they came too close.
an IMG cruiser, the Dolomite eventually entered the fight, after being asked to do so.
I can`t give a detailed report: it was complete chaos. utter pandamonium. I have no idea how many ships were in the fight, but it was a substantional number. eventually, the Spyglass went down in flames after being bombarded for a length of time. The Dolomite also went down.
the Fires Of Liberation was slightly damaged after the spyglass was destroyed. then all the enemy gunboats foccussed their fire on my ship. seeing as she was already damaged, and the siege cannon was fried, again, I ordered a priority retreat.
the hull was buckling and we had major hull breaches, but we made it into Norfolk in 1 piece after an emergency dock.
please note that this isn`t the whole fight. the camera was knocked out several times.
current status of the Fires Of Liberation
- 3 major hull breaches
- Siege Cannon fried due to overheating (overuse)
- thruster destroyed
- 3 crew members KIA. I`d like to write their folks personally, if that`s ok.
- 20 wounded, 5 seriously
- 3 turrets damaged beyond repair
- engine damaged, repairs underway.
she now lies in drydock. I will await further orders.
oh, as a last note: during this onslaught, I noticed there was practically no chain of command. everyone seeemd to be doing their own thing. I`d like to see a superior officer take charge next time.
The thunderbolt called for assistance against an order force ammasing within the Alaska system, so without further ado, i moved toward the jumpgate. halfway toward my destination, i picked up jarek_70 on scanners. he was keeping at range to avoid getting taken out by me, but he followed us into the alaska system. the fight begins with the Durango, Thunderbolt, Louisbourg, Hank and me on the naval side against the order. as shown below, it is the sequence of events of the fight.
Finishing off with jarek and seeing the order forces in full retreat, Hank and me returned to the new york system, moving toward west point. we picked up Garald Gallego and another outcast on scanner, and were preparing to take him into custody for repeated killings, piracy and extortions. Two freelancers by the names of Al and Dan Bundy underestimated the Naval officers, by commenting in local chat "i'll get some popcorn to watch the naval pilots die". One thing i tell everyone, never underestimate the Navy. Gerald died within 3 passes, while the outcast was taken down shortly after. Again, below are the kilcam shots.
Final engagement. Admiral Hale explained that there was a pirate hoard in the california system, so we moved to intercept, engage, and destroy all hostilities. The admiral switched to his bomber, while hank, me, and jake ryan who joined us now were in fighters. The fight began, and the freelancers Al and Dan Bundy joined in randomly into the fray, causing the gunboats to join in as assitance. luckily, Fred Hertz came to assist, and with the help of the second bomber, the gunships were ripped apart fast. the rest fell apart fast, and the engagement was over, with the Liberty Navy taking no losses whatsoever. Below are the Killcam shots.

SUBJECT: The Battle of Bering.
Yesterday while on a system wide hunt for Unioner and Rhienland Military activity our forces were met by the Rhienlander's approx 40K from the Zoner FP 2 facility.
After some initial taunting from both sides the battle began, the Rhienlander's focused fire on Willows Bomber while our Commodore ordered our forces split with 2 VHF attack craft on their bomber and the rest targeting VHF Dominik-Mertins.
It was Kapinos guns that finished of Mertins as we all rounded on the enemy bomber, Willows was broadcasting he was under heavy sustained fire and did not expect his craft to last much longer. Indeed that was the case as my sensor's picked up Schmidt finishing off Willows craft with his guns.
After this loss with Willows pod safely retrieved it was again Kapinos who dealt a death blow to the enemy as
Chezberger fell to our combined assault. An urgent sub-space broadcast arrived from Command Center for Casero at this point and he was forced to withdraw from combat due to a family emergency.
The Vice Admiral was next to be targeted! After sustaining heavy fire Vice Admiral Brunhild chose to flee the engagement rather than fall in what must have been a devastating morale loss for the enemy forces. Pushing our advantage now Officer Hertz took down Westerman with his guns after a combined assault, then again Hertz showed great skill as he also finished of Meinhardt.
The battle was won now, I belive the Mandalorian hired to provide recon data also took down an enemy but my sensor bank did not record this. The remaining enemy now fled as the victorious Commodore ordered our forces back to Liberty.
A fine battle Officers with only the loss of Willows craft, with such displays as this we will slowly grind Rhienland down in this regrettable war of attrition.
Over the past week, I have taken a short leave of absence from active patrol for personal reasons - Spending time with my family is one of the few pleasures I have in my life.
Anyway, I was scheduled for an hour patrol of Liberty and decided to launch my Upholder in California. Good thing I did, as I was soon confronted with a Rheinland gunboat, callsign RNC-Duisburg. After threatening my life, I initiated the engagement with a supernova.
A Guardian AI unit assisted me with the engagement and we soon had the target smoldering.
Hopefully, this'll be the last time we see a Rhienlander so deep into Liberty territory.
>Cartel Problem.
More of these "Cartel" ships were spotted in California, and so myself and Lt. Commander Casero went to patrol the area. We intercepted three of these ships near the Magellan jumpgate. The large transport ship was hauling thousands of slaves crammed into tiny cargo compartments. I ordered them all to cut their engines and await questioning. They refused and began to open fire on my ship. Being experienced pilots, both Casero and myself knew the first call of port was to rescue those slaves by blasting that transport.
One short fire-fight later, the transport was downed and all that was left were those two pesky fighters. Luckily, both were rookies and I easily took care of them with my supernova.
>Doombringer and Lifcior.
On our return to New York for repairs, we encountered an Outcast gunship callsign Doombringer. The target had captured numerous Military officers as well as civilians and admitted to pirating along the California tradelanes. Casero privately expressed his concern that his bomber was suffering a critical reactor failure. With that in mind, and no other units available for dispatch, I was forced to leave him be, pirating the lanes. Casero made his way back to New York to commence repairs and I stayed in California, watching the fiend.
After a short while, a large pirate bomber exited the jumpgate from New York. I ordered him to stand down and await a scan. He disregarded this order and proceeded to run. After several warnings, I told him that he'd now be shot for disobeying a direct order and holding several hostages. The Guardian unit and myself chased the target towards Riverside and on towards the ice field. Fortunately, the Guardian unit caught up to the pirate and was busy engaging it by the time I arrived. One supernova later, and Lifcior's ship was no more.
I'd like to commend the scientists on the Guardian project, unit 059 was critical to my success in bringing down both the RNC and pirate bomber in California. I witnessed nearly no flight errors on the Guardian's behalf, executing each maneuverer with pin point precision. You lads at R&D have done yourselves proud.

Virgil redline reporting.
today there was quite some chaos in New York. It started with a large Keeper invasion. they were over Norfolk, but they left before I could gather an efficenet force to deal with them. some ships persuied them into Alaska. to no avail.
Then some Rheinland gunboat showed up. turned out it was rebuild as a bar. one with an bretonian look to it.
I accidentally rammed it when I undocked. it`s owner got angry and demanded a compensation for his paintjob. I was just yelling back at him when an Order carrier decided to breach Z21.
The LSF required my help so I went over to invastigate. the carrier`s captain was quite mute... he spoke but 1 entence. some gibberisch about saving mankind. seeing as there were no more nomads, we asked him to leave. he didn`t. he just barged into NY. the LSF opened fire after repeatatly asking the carrier to halt.
The carrier then opened fire on us. we returned fire. without as much as a single shield failure, we destoyed the carrier. one LSF ship was shot down, however.
I then returned to Norfolk where the "Braggard`s Bar" was still lying. I decided to dock with it and talk to its angry owner about the damage.
we became good buddies (and totally smashed) in the process. In fact, I`m still kinda woozy as I am writing this. I`m gonna lie down now before I barf all over my console.

Short report, since admiral Hale was listening in on the comm traffic. so he knows what happened.
that dreaded Rheiland battleship Rheinland Tiger was hopping in and out of texas all day. Every time our forces moved in, he ran.
this time, he didn`t make it.In Bering, I had to blow up some tradelanes, launch disrupters like crazy and head-butt some astroids, but we got him. the Thunderbolt and the Fires of Liberation succesfully destroyed the target.
This message is highly classified, only high ranking LN and LSF have clearance to open it.
Navy Command and LSF command, at approximately 15 hundred hours, yesterday our advanced sensors picked up a disturbing radiation signature, matching that of a known Dom, Kavosh hyper gate in Omicron Minor. This new signal was located in the Coronado system. We moved to investigate and located the gate, deep within the Barrier nebula.
Scanners proved it was damaged and inactive for the time being, however.... it appeared to be repairing itself, slowly. Our science team, theorizes that the gate had been damaged thousands of years ago, and was dormant in the ice field, until recently, when a shift in the field, caused more sunlight to reach the gate, somehow powering it up.
I and Captain Patterson, of the Louisbourg Fortress, decided it would be prudent to destroy or at least slow down this gate before it opened up, however our weapons had little effect.
As a final attempt we detonated a Mark 20 nuke between the gate and the sun, vaporizing many asteroids and creating a cloud, just dense enough to block the sun, and slow the repairs, for now. We will need to determine a way to permanently shut this gate down.
Today at approximately 2000 hours, the foolish Rhieland military attacked the planet Houston. Admiral Hale and Vice Admiral Mactavish lead the charge to repel the invaders, and I grabbed my Avenger and tagged along.
After dispatching a large amount of the foolish foes, a force of Outcasts and Rogues showed up, determined to cowardly attack while we were greatly outnumbered.
However, the might of the Liberty Navy was anough to quickly down 2 gunboats and several fighters. At this point, my Avenger suffered a terrible hit to the wing, in which I lost a gun, quickly after, I tried to drop a mine, just as my engine area was struck by an incoming Sidewinder missile.
My cockpit autoejected me, and I was quickly tractored in by the nearby Defender patrols.
I am now en route to the San Francisco, where I shall have my head injury treated.
A short patrol detail turned up a mercenary wanted for aiding criminal elements within Liberty. GoldenAce was apprehended at West Point and knowing how mercenaries are, I ordered him to release all of his munitions so they could be properly disposed of.
I escorted the target to Huntsville, where two Outcasts came along and planned to break the Mercenary out of jail. Knowing I couldn't take on a gunship and bomber alone, I awaited backup from the Freedom's Reach. However, the Captain was busily taking care of a few hostiles in New York.
In the end, the Outcasts retreated and GoldenAce was processed at Huntsville. Nothing else to report from that patrol.
