I'm more than happy with an enlightened dictatorship & see no need to vote on such matters.
If Admin want us to have a say - so be it.
If admin want to promote someone of note without the community's consent - so be it.
I'm just an appreciative player & this is a great mod.

(Yes, I am well aware that Cannon would get a majority vote, and would even get mine.)
Congratulations.:)
I don't agree with this at all.
I don't think it's really any of our business.
It's not a democracy. It's not an open Community (even though anyone can join).
Nor is it an Open adminship.
It's a privately run server.
Too many people think they have a say on what the admins do here, and who should be voted
and how the admins should do things.
In all honesty? If they get an admin outside that we've never heard of, that would be just as fine
(possibly better than from someone here since they would be an unknown, and not known in the way that "everybody judges" here).
I mean seriously...
Why the hell does anyone think their opinion matters around here, to who is in an admin roll?

The Administration wishes to appoint Administrators that are, something to aspire to, for lack of better descriptions. Despite all the exaggeration of power of the Administration, they cannot be everywhere at once, nor can they see everything. In order to appoint an Administrator which meets certain prerequisites, the opinion of the community is needed, in order to fully describe the person being nominated.
It is not intended as popularity contest so far as "no, I do not like you because you pirate me too much", but it is intended as a "they are rather hot-headed, and I do not believe they can handle the pressure of the job" sort of input.
As far as voting, or giving an opinion, I know, first-hand, that popularity is not an indication of quality, and I know that the people who cast the votes do not decide the election results, the people who count the votes do.
Hence, as far as everything goes, when the Administration make the final decision anyway, there is no harm in making a voting thread as it allows the airing of grievances and scrutinises the individual to see whether they are fit for the job, far better than a simple Administration examination. The process is not perfect, but it makes the community feel more involved with the community's direction.
A community which is not involved in choosing it's direction will become disinterested.
A community is not supposed to be interested mate, I still don't know who half the admins are, and in the beginning I didn't know any at all, I was extremely happy to play FL. That's what the community should do. Play, enjoy, have fun, let the admins do their job and nobody would complain. Its because we do get votes and because we actually know our admins which is the source of say around 70% of the problems. Someone has a personal grudge against an admin, they spread it around when that person becomes one and voila, instant bad rep and almost nothing the admin can do about it. God forbid he or she actually does something to mess up even slightly as well and he/she has just fueled the community's anger level to the angry fat german UT kid level. Personally, admins outside of the community and not letting us get a vote for it would be the best way to solve these problems. Our admins can judge admins from other places by their behavior and actions, or even regular people by their behavior, and I believe they're intelligent enough individually to make the correct decision. A community however, is not able to make a good decision, because it is always, especially for our "home turf" admins..always biased.
