Exteel turns out to be rather fun, NCsoft game though. Free, but some weapons are purchase only. No big deal, takes teamwork a lot of the fight, and someone using a healgun in the back, heh. It's all mechs, gundam-styled combat, all based on Lock-ons, which are harder than they look.
DIPRIP is an HL2 Mod, that's not dead, but not alive much. Free, fun, should try it. Vehicle warfare, comparable to death race, where vehicles are rediculously modded for combat.
anyone can contact me on PM, if ye feel like playing some new multiplayer stuff for free. Skype recommended.
Exteel is 'meh' now. I started playing it since closed beta 2 all the way up until maybe 8 months ago. Despite the potential variety that each mech could have, you would always find people using the same over-powered weapons and the same parts (first it was the Zeus rifle, next it was the Beam Spitter for the LONGEST time, and now it's the shotties). There really were some AMAZING clans in there though (this is a shoutout to SYL and Frozen Flames), but the QQ and BAAAAAAAAAWWWWING was infinitely worse than what I've seen in here.
If you do want to get started, here's my recommended setup to aim for:
Head: Jaywalker (Spazmok if you don't feel like buying coins)
Core: Spazmok (Sidewinder or Aerobolt also work)
Arms: Ballistika (Sidewinder is good too)
Legs: Spazmok
Booster: Cyclone or Maverick
Weapon group 1: Annihilator-A, shotgun/rifle
Weapon group 2: Dual Iron Curtain-A or dual Zeus Persuader-A
Skills: Gun Slayer (to close in for melee), Sweating Bullets x2 (spammable for rifles)
If this doesn't cut it for you, just replace all of the weapons with Spattergun-A and get 3 Sweating Bullets. You'll be leet in 5 minutes.
Maybe some day, they'll see a hero is just a man who knowshe's free.
I used to play Exteel a bit, got up to level 50-odd. I wasn't a big fan of the PvP aspect, although overall I played a variety of game modes. My favourite was the Last Stand mode (a team of players versus crapload of NPC's).
Lack of development has put me off the game, I don't play anymore. It was good while it lasted.
The only real way to make enough money to cover equipment use was Last Stand lvl. 5. Best setup is to have everyone use a rocket launcher and dual rectifier setup. It gets really easy, but it also gets really boring after a while. Honestly, best way to repair equipment is to let it run out completely, then repair. You end up saving a lot more money that way in the end. Otherwise, yeah, use the Pinkett or use pieces that have a lower durability rating. They'll degrade slower than the top-tier parts.
Bass, yeah, I meant the other one. Gunslayer is the spear/shottie combo skill. It's actually really decent since you can activate it at range and do solid damage, but the downside is that it knocks your target back out of melee range. The sword equivalent does just about as much damage and at the same range, and you end up directly behind your target afterwards. The real trick is to learn how to spin yourself around fast enough to start using the sword again.
Also, DO NOT spam the ground combos with the swords. Yes, they're fast, but after the third attack you're very vulnerable as the animation ends. Your best bet is to jump -> slash -> repeat. This will not only increase your overall attack speed, it will also slow down the rate at which your annihilator overheats (seriously, that thing overheats after about 4 swings if you don't have the right arms).
Again, swords are overall more effective than spears, but with practice spears can become very powerful too. If you really want to play around with a lance, use the Penetrator-A to start. It has the biggest hitbox out of all the spears, especially when you attack from a jump or the air. The ground hit-box is pretty decent too, but again, you really don't want to use ground attacks except for in certain situations. The spear is all about dragooning, which is getting above your opponent and attacking downwards. For this you'll want to use a booster that has a very good vertical rating like the Thunderstormer (I think that's what it's called, it's been a while) or one of the newer boosters.
