Heads of States and Governments

Ok so this topic came up with a chat between me, Sigcorps and Reisiger Duke in Skype, basically,

The CoZ (Council of Zoners) acts as the governing body of most zoners (if not all). The Elders from The Brotherhood appear to be governing the Corsair Empire along with the Benitez Family. And I'mm not to sure about the outcasts, but it appears there are Dons ruling over them

Anyways my point is, Liberty, a republic, does not have a governing body, in RP I mean. There is no Senate or Congress. And I haven't seen anyone RP as President James Powell either. Nor have I seen anyone RP as Queen Carina, the Shogun or the Chancellor.

Ok, so no heads of state, but each of these governments have some form of congress/parliament, a representation. However, no one has actually RP'ed the representation. No one has bothered creating A Senate for Liberty, A Parliament for Bretonia, and ReichStag for Rhienland, and I don't know what form of representation the Kusari have but yeah.

My point is, why hasn't anyone created this? It would be awesome if the lawfuls/corporations of the respective countries were a part of this. It would get some interesting debates going on.

Off course, they wouldn't have soo much power. Liberty Senate and Riechstag could not vote for a peace treaty, but it is possible for them to vote for a temporary ceasefire of sorts.

I believe somebody has...either Kane or Virus used to RP as Rheinland's Chancellor, I think Dusty got elected as James Powell when Del decided to take a vacation, and I imagine Zelot is RPing the Shogun, since he's the only player on this server who currently has a Kusari Imperial Yacht. Bretonia I'm not so sure about, but maybe it's been turned into a constitutional monarchy now? I don't know, haven't spent any time their lately except Newcastle (which hardly constitutes being in Bretonia, I think).

And, for the record, the Council of Dons acts as the governing body of the Maltese/Outcast nation.

Ok but like I never see 'em around though.

And besides, its not like President Powell has all the power (yet), there would still be a congress of sorts.

I always thought Bretonia was a constitutional Monarchy, with the queen having a little bit more power, kinda like before the 1600 revolution.

Zelot is indeed Emperor Jien Kogen of Kusari.

Last I heard, Unselie was doubling as Queen Carina, though getting a bit "long in the tooth".

Bretonia probably has the most "active", government, with Parliament Members, Foreign Office, all sorts of bells and whistles.

It's out there.. just takes a bit of searching. And they're usually only put on display for special events or Diplomatic purposes.

For the most part, I can't see there being a reason for any member of a Government body to be flying a ship in space. At the very least they may be flown through space transported between planets or stations, but they are far too important to captain or pilot ships.

It's not the same for unlawful factions though. Lawful factions rule the population through policy and law, unlawful factions rule through respect crafted from fear. You're more likely to see an unlawful leader in space than a lawful leader.

Maybe someone wants to do some forum-RP of such people, I dunno.

Bretonia has a government with a bunch of ships/positions/lore, Lemaitre can probably spill out 40000 pages of information about it if he finds this thread. Unselie RP's the Queen but [s]he's been inactive recently and only just come back. Kusari's emperor is RP'd and has a pretty big forum and ingame presence, Kanzler exists too.

I think people are a bit tentative about doing much with them though because it's a whole lot of power. CoZ is just zoners, but any house leadership decisions effect like 6 factions or whatever, and no change will please all of them. Just out of being polite I guess.

Well like I said, most of these changes could just me minor for the sake of RP.

No peace treaty between Rhienland and Liberty, just a temporary ceasefire, like 3 days long or so.

Stuff like that.

Kusari has the Council of Rising Suns, Bretonia has their government, dont know about liberty, but they used to have a pres. The problem for "governments" is it is a) much easier to do things over skype to handle things instead of on the forums. b) Are very hard to get anything done.
