You know, when the place is actually finished.
Well, presuming it finally goes to war with the rest of Sirius and breaks in, if that's the plan, and I believe it is as it's logical, we couldn't make Gallia appear in one version and suddenly taking over systems, could we?
What kind of surprise and outrage would there be then when people suddenly started losing various bases?
I believe Gallia still is a good thing, though it isn't too welcoming towards foreigners.
When the grand war starts, if it starts, no when it starts, things will be more fun I believe.

' Wrote:I must agree with messieurs Patterson and Thexare above. While I appreciate all the hard work that went into making Gallia, it doesn't fit into Discovery at all. Its proportions are all wrong - it's going to be twice as big as any other House when all's said and done - and its entire background is one big fat cliche: mysterious group that no one knew about (even though they've been neighbors for like, 800 years?) comes out of the woodwork with superior technology and decides to crush the rest of the galaxy. (sidenote: why should they have superior technology and firepower? If history tells us anything, isolated societies don't develop as rapidly because there's no need to, no competition.) To top off the silliness, they make this uber-house French. No offense to France, but if there's going to be a superpower-type house I'd like to see it as descended from a combination of many countries, not from a single one (and one that happens to have an, ahem, spotty military history).
If it were up to me, I would have made Gallia as a small, relatively new House that arrived late like the Hispania, that was struggling to survive until it discovered a passage into Sirius. Then, this fledgeling Gallic nation would be working to build partnerships and alliances with the established Houses in order to build up its modest economy. In other words, Gallia would be a peripheral addition to Discovery that would nicely blend in with what's already established, instead of being a whole new thing that's neither here nor there.

Seems I forgot this section....
Why would a group of people, form alliances with those whos ancestors betrayed them? When their hatred for that betrayal has carried on since.
"Just another house" would be too bland. As said earlier, Gallia is a system of its own, apart from Sirius although represented on the Sirius Map (There was something posted about it, but I havent found it recently)
Edit: Now one might ask, if it is indeed another system, why wasnt it discovered until now? In addition to the fact that the minefields were made to look like others found in Sirius not placed by its inhabitants, you have the common thought that "Liberty, Rheinland, Kusari, and Bretonia were the only survivors of the Nomad's attack on Sol" saying that theres no need to even look in nearby systems to see if others may have survived.
Well that's my problem, seeing Gallia as a whole new system. I don't want a whole new system - the one we've got is plenty enough, thank you very much - and because of the Gallia's "whacky factor" I've only been there once, in SP, and will most likely never go back there again. It's like stumbling into another mod and I find myself asking, what's the point?
Of course, Gallia's mostly done already so I'm just pontificating here. If you want to play in Gallia, all the more power to ya.

So you'd prefer it if Disco stayed to: Bretonia, Kusari, Hispania, Liberty, Rheinland, and the various minor factions that branched from each? Nothing new, everything the sameold sameold. Igiss can we revert back to vanilla for this man?
All sarcasm aside, it's not up to you. You want to keep playing disco, thats good. But accept whatever new things come to pass. Even if that is to include the Order and Xenos allying to remove the LHC from command over Liberty, placing the Xeno Alliance as the controlling force of Liberty. Leaving LN / LSF / LPI exiled to Rheinland where they took over every planet enslaving all rheinlanders to support them in launching attacks against the newly taken Liberty.
I'm not against incorporating a new House - see my wall-of-text post for that. And I'm definitely not against adding things to the mod. But the way Gallia was implemented makes zero sense to me. Not to mention the fact that now the "plotline" of the mod is bursting at the seams - we already have two wars going on, now we plan on adding a third, even bigger one? (I'm not even counting nomads here) With all this supposed "excitement" and "drama" being crammed into one big cluster****, this is becoming Discovery as directed by Michael Bay.
Aw golly, seems I dragged this thread into a back alley and bludgeoned it to death...
Actually I think Galia is alright. It can't become border worlds, and for the people said that they don't develop as fast, but you forget that it landed in a good spot.
and hey. tobacco and wine. All we need now is some rakes, hoes and vineyards until jean luc picards start to appear around.

Another thing to add to Gallia's quick development, is that their sleeper ship was much larger than the others. Allowing it to carry more supplies.
The only thing I believe people see in Gallia are its highprofit trade routes requiring oorply fixed reputations (all those battleships you have to pass along the lanes and gates)
Edit: As I discussed on skype with a few others. People generally come to Gallia to look at the shiny new things and in the process get blasted by Gallic Royals (as their RP has them do).
And afterwards they believe that to be the only RP to be found there and leave. People refuse to involve themselves in Sirian-Gallic RP and take flamethrowers to those who do. Such as what occurred with the Treaty of Reunion.

Gallia. If the Gallic Royals want to be isolationist and carry that heavy load of a what, 400 year old grudge against all Sirians for something that the current populace wasn't even alive for then let them! Best thing that can happen is that, since we "Sirians" are so evil is that any and all trade going to the Royals is cut off completely! Hey, they hate us so why be nice?
Diplomacy with those pompous petoots is pointless. After I made some honest and sincere efforts, I was met with hostility and threats. I say let em' stay isolated!
