I did everything right and I checked the tutorials, I turned off my firewall and uninstalled Avast! but I still keep getting the same error, I see all the servers, but everytime I try to connect I get an error saying "Cannot connect to this server because it's probably shutting down" or something like that, I've even tryed to disable that IPv6 thing but it also didn't plz help me I really wanna play.
I'm getting identical problem, I've also tried disabling all firewall and PC defense type programs, but every time (Have also been trying for 2 days funnily enough) I see the servers but cannot connect to a single one.
My uneducated guess is it's something wrong with Vista, yet again, but I could log on fine on my other Vista machine back when I was playing before, like 6 months ago, so possibly vista is not the problem.
Any help would be appreciated, both for the sake of Lone wolf and Myself.
Also, I realise I'm a few days behind Lone wolf, so if you've got it working, I'd greatly appreciate being told how.

It'll probably be antivirus or more specifically the firewall facilities that are included with anti-virus software. My guess is bitdefender. Disabling it isn't good enough unfortunately as the weird vista virtual network device driver thing will still block freelancer - it's got to be uninstalled.
Possibly also FLMM 1.2 but I think that it will be antivirus (because it almost always is)

Not trying to argue cannon, but I do believe BitDefender's OK, it was on DBoy's white list
Also, Freelancer is added as an exception to all my firewalls (Windows and Comodo)
Will try with newer version of FLMM, i used 1.2 because I had 1.2 & 1.4 installers, knew 1.4 didn't work though.
And not deliberately being awkward, 1.2 worked with previous discovery versions, and the beta for 4.85.
Will still reinstall with 1.3 though, and inform you how it goes, but haven't got time today, so hear from me soon.
Thanks chaps.
Running Vista Service Pack 1
Uninstalled FLMM v1.2 & BitDefender (Despite it being on White List)
Restarted Computer (To finish uninstalls)
Clean Install of FL
Installed MSXML3.msi
Ran Freelancer (Offline) To Check It Worked Normally
Installed FLMM v1.3
Ran FLMM As Admin
Restored Backups Using FLMM (It said something to do with: 8 files 0 folders)
Activated Discovery 4.85 (Took about twice as long as normal though)
Disabled Windows Defender & Firewall Using SERVICES.msc
Added FL As Exeption To Comodo Firewall
Disabled Comodo Firewall (Just In Case)
Checked IPv6 (My internet uses IPv4 as default anyways)
Ran Freelancer As Admin
Chose Freelancer 24/7 RP Server
Clicked Connect
Got Standard 'Cannot connect, server may have been shutting down as you were connecting' type message
Tried Other 3 Servers (Discover of Discovery, UK & US Servers) & Got Same Message
If anyone can offer any help on the matter, please please please please please post your ideas, they may help.
In the mean time, I'm not going to be able to play:(but will be keeping an eye on this thread and hoping to see you online soon.
