What just happened:

I just logged off the server after a quite long and quite fun with annoyance when I chased a Hacker into the Pittsburgh field, to my surprise, there was an NPC Rogue Destroyer. I always wondered where it went, but I NEVER knew it was there until earlier, imagine my surprise.

Still with gusto and confidence after an easy PvP from earlier in the day, my agility, I felt I could take this Hacker on without support, even though there was a lovely destroyer.

After a while and a few missiles, I was wearing him down, he seemed to have a bit of a bad aim, then a rogue came out of nowhere. I in a Libby against a Falcata and a Broadsword now. Still, I was cocky, and kept on plugging away when I got some help, which I was thankful for. An LSF pilot, sadly, that Falcata Rogue blew him up in no longer than 30 seconds... I think the destroyer helped.

After a while, I ran out of all my Firestalkers, then my CD's... I was running on three Magma Hammers and some Screamers... Still, I kept plugging away, and dropping his shields and chipping at his hull.

Then the annoyance began... He circles the destroyer, every single time I drop his shields, and he kept dropping nuke mines, forcing me to stop tailing. This is the only thing that annoyed me to the point of actually calling in support on system chat, I wasn't going to ALT-TAB and Skype in this situation. After a while and more evading and fighting, a LN gunboat came to help but wisely stayed out of it, that destroyer would have killed him, but I couldn't run to him, since it would be fleeing.

Then more came... this time it was LR, after a while, we kept fighting, and thank god those two LR Baghests stayed out of it, we eventually killed that Hacker, that started the whole mess, and circled the destroyer to recharge.

After a bit more fighting and whittling down that rogue falcata, I decided to call everyone away, it was getting to big too fast and would have drawn the Keepers in sooner or later.

So, all in all, 1 LSF down, 1 Hacker down. While up close and personal to a Liberty Rogue Destroyer NPC.

I think in essence, we won tactically.

Now to the point after the story.

Is running in circles around a base a cowardly tactic?

EDIT: Also, that is one of the best fights I've ever done despite the penalties against me, inaccurate weapons, NPC spamming missiles. That is the longest too for me... 25 minutes I think it was. Great fun to all!

Well I would call it "using your environment to your advantage."

Kinda like lawfuls who use the Battleships stationed to their advantage by sticking close to them for fire-support.

I can understand fire support, but using an invincible station to block fire?

It's a large meatshield. Just like LN use their carriers as damage soakers.

Also, good dodging there, it was fun to fraps.

You Fraps'ed it? Oh Lord... I hope I did the LPI justice...

I had to do all that dodging for 20 minutes, I need to log of to give my fingers a rest, I really have to press these keys in, unlike my old one.

Still, enjoy the show? I loved that fight, I was just ticked off by his 'shield' tactics.

If you ask me Fletcher its a tough one. I would also do a similar tactic but perhaps to not such a great extent.

Meh, it's a cheap tactic, really. Not fun, if you want a chalange from an enemy.

People do the same with battleships. They circle your battleship so that they can recharge their shield and have an effective barrier between them and their enemy. When that happens, I just start shooting at the guy who began circling to get him away from me.

And no, this is not cowardly. Just very annoying.

Yeah it is an extreme call, and its my own silly fault for chasing him in there, but I still had fun. But this tactic isn't exactly new.
