fear, all of em. all the silent hills, dead space (finally finished it, screaming all the while like steve ), doom 3. i personally shat myself more with dead space, what with no proper HUD when you play and the generally better immersion for the player added to the fact i was playing it at 2 in the morning with 5.1 surround sound.
I don't play all that many scary games. Probably the scariest part of any game I've played is Ravenholm in half life 2 (Clank. Clank. Clank. Clank. GRAAAARGH!!!!!!). A close second would be entering the sewers in Return to Krondor when I was young. It scared me so much that even when I started to play through it again a couple of months ago, I still felt afraid in the sewers.
Um... I would say dead space, though I've never really played a game that actually 'scared' me. It's just like scary movies... they dont work on me, the only effect is occasionally the shock factor of having something jump into your face out of nowhere.
Only thing that really scares me is spiders, and I havent seen any games based on those yet =P
' Wrote:Gah , I remember one I played a while back ... what was it called.
Painkiller ? Cant remember...
Painkiller? The one where you shoot up wave after wave of undead and demons to a ripping heavy metal/gothic soundtrack?
I mean, I suppose it was initially kind of creepy until the first zombie you shoot with your shotgun gets punted 30 meters through the air. I lol'd every minute after that.
Maybe some day, they'll see a hero is just a man who knowshe's free.
