' Wrote:alright man, are you also up to hitbox the revised BHG BC? - if not, there won t be a revised BC but we stick to the current one. - yes, i told you... once you do something beneficial, we won t let you go so easily!
when you re up for it - you can PM me your Email and i ll send you the BHG BC files.
I was actually planning to fix the hitboxes on all the BHG Capships - Destroyer, Battlecruiser and BS.
I wasn't aware there were plans for a substitute for the Bullhead BC.
I'm still contemplating doing other factions ships, although expecting payment to the Guild bank account for such work - After all, Bounty Hunters are not known to work pro bono ;)
@reavengitar : Theres a modding tutorial for hitboxes in the Modding section- Link to it is in the sticky posts.
Just remember that transports and large ships do not use the Shieldbubble. Thats only for fighters and freighters.
I'm making an educated guess, that Digital Anvil implemented the shieldbubble for Fighters and freighters, especially those able to be flown by players, or it would be to hard to hit them - especially in a PvP fight.
Although it IS possible just to use a "skinwrapped" hitbox for fighters too. We did it for a very very short test on the Boston Freelancer server, and it was not a success among players. Even a lvl 10 NPC mission suddenly became hard to finish:D
@ all who wants to use my technique for skinwapped capships hitboxes - There will be a step by step tutorial when I get the time to do it. Pestering me by PM's will not make said tutorial appear any faster.
Short version for those who can't wait for a tutorial, and are able to do things without handholding :
Think about what a hitbox is - a bit larger simplified version of the hull outline. Make a copy of the hull outline by only selecting the faces that make up the outer shiphull outline, simplify it, convex it, check it against the textured ship to see if any parts shine through and move vertexes as necessary. Export the hitbox as sur, use flmodel to resize and attribute it as a hitbox, and then test it - including docking, undocking from planets and stations, entering tradelines and JG, etc. Thats all that there is to it.

also, about jumping fences: the release of 4.85 was a very busy time and quite chaotic. so let`s not blame anyone.
Just got your PM, will send you details for test server and a link to the updated sur file which you will have to manually place in the right folder for the test.
I'm not blaming anyone, I'm responding to the flak I took for the statement in the other thread, when commenting on the use of an elongated cylinder as a hitbox. People wanting to slap me, saying it was to hard to do, as well as saying that I should do it my self (in the vain hope of me failing, thereby justifying that they jumped the fence were it was lowest...)
I still consider the usage of said cylinder for "jumping over the fence where it is lowest", and I think I have proven it, by making a hitbox that works in a very short timespan.
At the end of the day, its a question of Quality Assurance. If nobody could make a proper hitbox for that ship, then do not include it in the mod even if its eyecandy factor is great, untll such time (like 6.5 hours later) a proper hitbox has been made.

Excellent hitbox work. I can't say it enough that it's good to see someone backing up the big talk by doing something constructive. Me, I can't model or code worth a damn so I stay quiet.
Now you do know a tighter hitbox will result in diffrent balance, and probably lower hull stats? Anyhow great work...

no - the ships were balanced with a perfect hitbox in mind. - i do not think they need a rebalance. - when we balanced the ships, we thought of them having a good hitbox all around. - cause the mako gets a "fitting" hitbox shall not result in lower stats - as a fitting hitbox is what is was balanced about.
