Challenger Bargification

Let's say, the Challenger was to be changed into a Barghest with a dedicated CD slot and two torp/CD slots, freighter shield and Barghest powerplant, and about barghest armour. Weak against bombers, fighters and small gunboats, but very good against most all caps that dont have a bunch of escorts.

In exchange for this its size gets increased 10% (making it barghest size), and it's turning dropped to 0.90 area, slightly above the barghest.

This is a serious proposal, and one I sort of took up myself as a BAF Admiral, the change is not going to make it overpowered, and in some respects 'weak' (vs fighters), this poll is mostly for BAF members, and some would of course not be within BAF| itself, also enemies of Bretonia aught to have a say on what happens to their enemies ships too.

It is also something of an effort for bombers to be moved towards Barghest like status, the only 'true bombers' as I hear a lot, they're not hard to hit, and the time they survive is easy to balance, they're slow, and the light bombers are where the imbalance is (agility=easier snac shooting).

It's a proposal, but serious, so vote seriously.

I'm not voting since I don't really know.

It would get better vs ships like:

Kusari BS, Corsair Dread, COrsair Cruiser, Rogue/Molly dessie.

but at the same time it will get clearly worse vs:
Kusari Dessie, OC dessie, and most GBs (IMG, Kusari, LH, Rogue/Molly).

So it's a double-edged sword.

On the other hand infocard on Havoc MKII says that it's used by BAF as well.

The Havoc is getting its civilian stamp re-enforced as it's sort of a lost child amongst bombers.

A sort of alternative for people who hate the Roc and would rather fly something that's larger/slower/weaker/uglier.

As, if memory serves, the Havoc retains the light bomber plant.

I have a fighter and a bomber in every faction I'm in, except the BAF, because the Challenger really is that gross.

For anyone who thinks that this would somehow be 'too good,' look at the Fafnir. No one uses that thing. Admittedly, the Bergelmir is great, but still, I've still not actually seen a Fafnir. This would just make the horrible Challenger in to something that was at least good at something.

I would say the Challenger needs something.

It's a big fat target that has (or had when I flew it) a surprising turnrate and a great plant. It's stuck in that valley between the GMG and the IMG Bomber, where on one side there's the big nasty bombers like the Barghest and Waran and on the other you have the Roc and Falcata.

Making the BAF bomber Barghest-like would definitely help a good deal. Also, the Barghest is a real treat to fly.

Bump, more people (especially BAF people) should weigh in on this.

I think it's a good idea. More bombers should go the way of the Barghest, and the Challenger is perfect for that 'style' of bomber.
