Planetary battles; Imagine Prague. So you get to your ship, to find a crapbunch of Rheinies there. Well, fight your way out. Watch out for the gravity.
More intense capship battles; think freespace. Two gargantuan ships broadsiding one another, volleying hails of laser blasts, maybe a railgun, missile or beam cannon thrown in. Assault transports would dock with and commandeer ships.
Nebulas. Pirates hiding in wait.. Then, poof! A Rapscallion pirate transports flies out of the cloud, ambushing the seemingly safe convoy.
It would be frickin' epic.
In other words, a freelancer-themed hackup of DarkStar One? Eh, what the hell. Could have been good.
They do have dockable ships in Freelancer. It's on the Void Server. So it -is- doable, they just haven't done it here. Another thing that pisses me off is we can't have cloakable ships. I don't really see what a crappy little light fighter used for recon would really kill on the server anyway. Soon as you decloak you'd be dead around your enemies. Not only that the ship you are on is so limited by weaponry choices you couldn't hurt anyone significantly in the first place. Hmm.. What else is missing here besides carriers and cloaks? Nukes? Smoke Screens? Cluster Missles? Faster cruise and engine kill speeds? (a light fighter should be able to fly far faster than a vhf, sorry)(80 meters a second? that's it? 1000 years into the future and we can't propel something the size of a bus faster than 80 meters a second? In space? with Rockets? Jesus Christ...)

80 metres a second is a nice 288 kilometres an hour. We could, theoretically, bump it up to 90 metres a second, which is almost 325 km/h. I could live with that for a light fighter. An "interceptor" could go to 100 m/s without balance issues, as long as we don't screw it up with OP weapon hardpoints. 100 m/s is 360 km/h, which I believe is just enough speed to scout or perform a quick strike without blowing the whole balance thing out of proportion.

Get me in something that fast I WOULD BE THE UNBALANCING EFFECT. But on something more "this," level FL2 would be a nice thing. But we have taken the game so far from the original that it seems that FL2 isn't needed. I especially wouldn't want to recreate entire story to fit the changes in FL2 that are not conducive to our Discovery Mod. If anything I would entertain the thought, which was mention before, that we could construct the FL2, and as Quiet.Boy~-.- said we need to consult the team that started FL. But again we must concern that our server our stories are exclusive and that would conflict with other servers that are too awaiting a new engine, and new FL. But not to sound to narrow minded and it may just be because that our popularity and size is the factor but we are not the real continuation of the story, we're a damn good side story and the best that i've witness but when it is boiled down....*looks around* yeah whom i kiddin we rock!
I don't think the m is = meters. I'm fairly sure a K is a Klick, rather than a km. Makes me sleep peacefully thinking that Earth isn't a rather miniscule faction of the size of Tasmania.
it could be meters, i mean look at the ships compared to planets they arent even close to scale. the person inside the cockpit is like the size of a country sometimes
