First step should be to try reinstalling the Freelancer font files, you can find them located on your CD. Derivatives of Agency, ie, Agency FB.

That usually solves the issue, though there are some steps I've forgotten and must hunt for you that others have used. :/

That wont affect the text rendering, its proportional to the resolution. At least it normally wouldn't. Something is up with the fonts, or the installation of FL.

Yeah, I can't seem to get that to work for various reasons...

Does anyone have any other ideas?

It doesn't really bother me, my freelancer installation has been nothing but a zip file of all the files for years <_<
