As for where it should be used, I have a suggestion there: As a replacement for the Firefly model which of course is an import from the series of the same name (and the film Serenity) and requires a replacement model. This means that the flattened profile stops being a combat balance issue and in fact becomes an asset: It's an important thing for a freighter to try to minimize it's profile, so it would fit the role the Firefly currently fulfills perfectly - that of being a swift but spacious borderworld trading vessel that frequently would have to attempt evading hostile vessels.
What this would mean of course is that it would need to be bigger - approximately small Cruiser or large Gunboat sized - to fit it's role adequately, but given how gorgeous the original model looks I doubt scaling it up would be a serious problem?
Anyway... please, please, please let this ship see the light of day in it's original form.

You got to be kidding me. You guys like this model? Seriuosly in all.
I mean the model is, well....was..., in good shape and was ready to be textured. But uhmmm.....i won't say no name . . .. *whisperS* Yue-Fi broke my heart on this thing. I am very sensitive when it comes to these things *whisper ends*
Anyways, but I learn something in life long time ago. Ignore the one's that breaks your idea. Keep moving forward.
As for the model - errmm.....Im going to remodel it because it was thrown in the trash bin and deleted off my computer since the day I posted the model in this thread.

I for one can emphatically say YES!
There's a hole in the civilian transport line where the Firefly sits, which noone uses because it's:
1) Hideous
2) Huge
3) An import
I see this ship fitting in it's place very nicely.
The only thing I might suggest is that if you're thinking of transports as opposed to gunboats whilst you remodel, you might be able to reduce the wingspan somewhat and increase the detail around the cockpit to give it a more circular appearance (think bretonian fighters but keeping the "slit" cockpit window). I'd also suggest thinking about turret points. The Firefly has eight (and is able to fire four in any one direction at a time), so if you're going down that line perhaps you should try to fit this into your model as you go so that it can be appraised as a direct replacement for it.
Good luck with the remodelling. I look forward to the new thread & model when it arrives!
*ahem*ahem* It's a civillian gunboat, not transport. Model is dencent, imnosho
But, WOuld it be like the rest of the civy line, Lightly armored and powered, but fast, or something just plain crazy, like....11 fighter turrets, for example. Be intresting to see.
Firefly is still an import (and whilst a decent model it does *not* look good in game and I can count on the fingers of my face how often I've seen it flown) and this would be a great replacement in the same ilk for such a ship.
