I know this sounds REALLY stupid. I really know it does. But what is the feasability of dual forward/aft missile turrets on a gunboat? Liberty gunboats, like the one I pilot, have 500,000 units of energy. A missile turret of Liberty's design uses 190,000 units. This leaves 120,000 units of power left after firing dual missiles which, in theory, should be able to nearly kaboom a fighter. Couple shots from the primary turrets and boom, one less bogey. At 50,000 u/s of power regen, that's a missile every four seconds if you're not firing anything else. Pretty good speed.
So I'd like to hear your thoughts on this whole idea of dual missile turrets. Is it too much? Would it work? If I have two missiles and a razor with the rest primaries, would I kill or be killed?
You're most welcome to try. Key thing about missiles is this: They have to -hit- the other guy.
And against gunboats, you're screwed.

Depends on the ship, I guess.
I'll use dual missiles on my Kusari Explorer, it has lots of power and no forward cannon. I don't get enrgy issues. When flying my Orca or my shared IMG GB they only use one missile due to energy issues.
This can all change with the new update of course.
I had dual missile turrets on my Orca - One forward facing, and one rearward facing. With the right aspect on the target, both missile turrets would fire. Which only had an effect IF the target shields were down allready, since both missiles would allways hit at the same time. If shields were up in any way, they would just be taken down.
The only way around that, would be to chainfire the missiles, so their arrival on target would be spaced.
If you can do that, then the tactics of dual missile launchers would be sound. If you can't, then the tactics would be a waste of vessel energy.
And remember - they are called MISSiles, not HITsiles for a reason. There is no guarantee that you will hit, especially in a multi ship furball.
Out of bats, Out of bots, Out of torps - Down to harsh language...
I think I'll try it out. If it works, it'll cost me less than a million credits in total. If it doesn't, it'll cost me about a million credits in total.

Dual missiles are really only decent for the first salvo, or if you like toying with your prey.
*remembers six-missile gunboats*
*shudders*
It used to be -bad-.
