Then how come IND needs their own ships if their parent NPC faction doesn't even have NPCs? What's so wrong with the current ships you have access to that you feel you need a new ship added to fill your needs?
I can see room for a contraband-running ship, one that looks more respectable than the P-Transport but serves the same role, but I don't understand the need for a liner. Do IND even ship human cargo? If so, what's wrong with the Luxury/Royal Liners we already have?

I will address your first point...first. IND is only loosely affiliated with IC, we have our own ID and our own diplomacy. You'll notice every faction that has it's own ID has ships, but that is not why we should have ships. When we took over Renzu, Tanker and I got to talking about the rp potential of it, and how we could play it out. My idea is to have a modeler who is interested in making the ship as well as rping the role of the ship designer in rp on the forums. Kyte jumped the gun a bit due to the server being down and wanting to give people something to do. When Tanker and I discussed it, we discussed two ships we were interested in having built in this way, the first being a more legal version of the P-trans, or a IND version of the C-trans/Shire. The second was an obscenely ornate and overly showy liner, not for trading but as a status symbol, much like the royal liner, that is not intended to be traded with. I dont see this liner being exclusive to IND, but instead something that has liner like stats, but a Battleship like price, something that is so overpriced that only people who have more money than god would buy it to fly around in....fits the bill for IND.
There is nothing particularly "wrong" with the ships available to IND, although it is fairly hard to find a good ship that is house neutral, but the same could be said for any faction, whats wrong with the eagle or the roc? Why do we need different ships for factions? Why did we need house specific 5k transports? What was wrong with the A-train? Why do the Outcasts need two battleships? Or the Corsairs? What was wrong with the Osiris? Different ships bring flavor to the discovery universe, how lame would it be if everyone spent their time flying around in the same ships as everyone else? Everyone in Eagles and Rocs and A-trains? Doesn't sound exciting to me, this is why we want IND ships, to rp the development and production of said ships, and to add more flavor the the game and community.
I -hate- Meta's renderings...sucks for screenshots.
Take your arguing elsewhere, people. *makes shooing motions with his cane*

Fair enough. I can easily see a big, rich corporation making a fancy liner to show off their wealth.
Zelot is correct, I did jump the gun a bit. I got so excited, then with the server being down, I saw an opportunity to whet some creative minds and I jumped. I haven't gotten spanked over it...yet. But yes, I do have a lot of passion in this idea. Zelot (thanks for not shooting me). I love the participation in this thread. Mord and I were reading last night before I crashed and was like wow...cool. Boss, despite your not liking the meta, I like where your mind is going with this design on the smaller ship. could we make it a bit narrower... in holding with the camera and bwt types? The shape is awesome. The other large liner sketch impressed me as a first draft. So many ideas. I love this. Thanks guys for your continued work on this project. I appreciate your taking the time in both design and discussion.
Now I know (sort of) what to do with those wings on the sides of mine.
Also, I thinned mine to look more like a cigarette boat.

The ship of yours looks really hardcore...when i think of a civilian vessels its got to be flashy and gloating with money. When i think of IND i think they couldn't handle the rough mass production transports and the substandard living conditions. IND requires luxury and pampering during work. They expect to have their ship to have a hot tub and a movie theater. That to me is IND Beverly Hills in space...
