I bought MW2 for PC at the urging of my friend who wanted to play against me. He kept going on on how great the game was etc... he neglected to tell me that it requred steam (a monster process eater) and that there were no dedicate servers (I had heard that some features would not exist like before, but not the dedis)
so... fresh out the box... I proceded to kick his ass in a private group (or whatever they call it) while he's got a couple of days on me ( HE should have the advangage over me).
gameplay is smooth, and runs very nicely on my almost dated computer. (if you can play the original MW then it will run with only minor tweaking) havent gotten a chance to play the sp yet, too busy reschooling my friend about the basics of fps, and tactics.
Long story short... Good game, but you can find me on 7CAV tatical realism server on the original MW
Yea me and my friend went to the Midnight release of this game. waited in the rain and got it for 20 CAD for PS3. After they royally pwn'd their PC player base, I'll be fine with my console version. Needless to say, beat the short but amazing campaign in about 6 hours. Hella sick, plot and set action pieces were great. Multilayer remains the same as it was IN MW 1, but with nicer graphics and more balance, its pretty good.
Spent too much time on it so far but its well worth it:P
It`s okay, I guess. The Campaign was just EPIC!
Played trough second Times now, still rocks.Since I?m gonna buy it today, I cant tell anything `bout the Multiplayer.^^
Quote:Yup. You read that right. Modern Warfare 2 PC now has dedicated servers.
Wait, PC gamers! Before you send Bobby Kotick a thank you letter, know that it wasn't they who did it, but rather the gamers who took Infinity Ward and Activition's attempts to lock down the game as a challenge. And bring it those gamers did, managing to hack in the developer console and enable the ability to set up dedicated servers. Keep in mind, the game hasn't even been out a week.
Perhaps some of the boycotters caught playing the game were not being hypocrites, but rather hard at work turning the highest-profile shafting of PC gamers right around, as the video below might demonstrate.
Of course, the darker side to all this newfound freedom is the ability to use it to cheat, and the servers that have been set up so far are all "ranked" and still considered "legal" by IWNet, Modern Warfare 2's console-esque matchmaking service.
Folks who like their games in "vanilla" flavor only shouldn't despair though. After all, MW2 uses anti-cheating tech from Valve, who, if nothing else, are very, very aware of what PC gamers can do, and how to deal with them.
That said, it's just a matter of time until they the first thing they did was mod it so that you can lean again.
Console: Yes Please
Lean: Enabled
Dedicated Servers: Comming Soon
Smell of PC Gamer Spirit is in the air.
Hehehe.
It was not long before some people found a way to circumvent the whole thing.
I hope IW will see it had no use to remove the support of dedicated server.
Still, many of these: Boycott MW:2 groups were full of hypocrites.
