You're right, it's just everyone else besides BowEx and Gateway. I think someone forgot their corruptions...

No, no, it's because of the 3+ threads on right now. I would love to keep the mining mod going. Really, as a pirate, a trader, and a miner (woah, you all can pirate me too!?) I will be sad when it is dropped. Simply look to yourselves when you find it dropped because of a lack of teamwork and an inability to RP as RP comes to you.

Greed is human nature. No one wants to cut profit. and hence they get [irated. Whine whine whine later, everyone is sick of it. and evrrything gets nerft back down.

BowEx and Gateway have their own IDs, I believe, so they don't use the Independent Trader ID, and are therefore irrelevant to the point I made, to which I can only assume you were responding, as you quoted me. If you're going to try dodging the subject, at least be a little more subtle.

I agree here, the mining mod is really awesome and needs to stay. Unfortunately, there's a rules loophole which makes the Miner ID far better than the Pirate ID as far as piracy is concerned. That I have issues with.
Don't throw out the whole car because one bolt is missing.
Andre, the answer as to why the miner and not the trading ID is that trading and mining are inherently different. Yes, miners are more violent, mining takes brute force to control vital resources and the area they are located in. Trading is about moving from place to place, not securing a location, which as I said, generally needs to be done with force.

No, mining is apparently about sitting in lawful space, near lawful bases, and pirating, with no repercussions unless a police/military character shows up mid-pirate.

Unless you are securing a trade route, which generally is done by force if you're a smuggling faction. Like the Outcasts. Ever wonder why there are so many Outcast fighter patrols-- hell, an entire military base-- in Tau-23? The only difference is that one involves mining lasers and the other involves money.
Thank you, however, for responding to my point with a valid point.

Ever look at the other bases in Tau-23? Java is nicely hidden away, but, the high-profile BMM installation is bristling with guns. It's a fortress, practically. The same applies to Graves in Dublin. Both of those are still in deep trouble with Outcasts and Corsiars/Mollies, respectively. The other stations that are on the direct path of a major pirate group are in deep trouble according to vanilla RP. Look at Douglas, Elbich, Rugen, Solaris, and Breisen for examples of what happens when you don't have high security. These places are losing more men than they can fit on a kilobyte of roster. Corsair and Hessian attacks are destroying miners left and right and running off with the spoils. Force is a given in the mining business.
Trading is very different from this. Transports don't have to hold a large piece of space to make money, they simply have to keep their general vicinity safe. Often, that is as simply as two or three escorts to stave off pirates before police or navies respond to SOS. That is much different from fighting off pirates to control an asteroid field.

Fighting off pirates for control of an asteroid field is generally done with fighters, not freighters and transports. And generally doesn't involve pirating. Saying miners should be able to pirate because they have to fight pirates for territory, and trader's can't because they don't, is downright silly.
