The screen flickers to life, the communication deck in a mild hustle as crewmembers walk behind the Captain to perform various duties, and the mumuring of other communications being sent regularly sounds off. Izii, as noticeable by his steely, cybernetic hand, holds a cigar in between his index and middle finger, the end ashed grey with a smolder of red ember in the deep center. His hair dyed a snowy white, and his left eye zooming and focusing it's lens accordingly as he looks at the screen.
"Fellow Zoners, what have we done to ourselves to be so far removed from what we started as? If I recall, when the first groups of people who bound together to make a stake for their corner of space, they wanted freedom to do what they wished; freedom from House polotics and underhanded governments. Now it's tearing honest people up to see we have infighting at every turn and talk. What happened to working as a whole on what affects us as a whole? A terrorist claims he will destroy a Freeport, and the reaction from some is to "give in" on his demand. A demand that is politically motivated. I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I can not deny the fact it is convenient some lunatic wants to remove miss Silvan from her place."
He takes a long drag of his cigar, his left eye unblinking as it would focus down to a tiniest dot of it's lense. He opens his eye and exhales the smokey plume and looks into the screen.
"I'm just a guard captain, deep down, I don't care for this political nonsense, underhanded deals and dishonor that seems prevalent. Though I do care when the reaction from those who are in power is to give in and give up. This is something I've come to value in miss Silvan, a willingness to put their reputation on the line in order to stand up for a belief. I've not seen a single official from other groups do such. No less I'll admit, I moved to help lady Silvan to capture the Joke, and if it were up to me, I'd not talk to him, I'd kill him outright. We've no room to tolerate some loon threatening us as a whole. Though its not that which sickened me, its the lack of motivation any Zoner has had on this matter, looking to one person rather than getting irritated, rather than getting motivated to go get things done ourselves to make our way of life safe."
Taking a second long drag of his cigar, he closes his eyes once more as it slowly smolders down it's black length. After he's done, he flicks the ash into a small tray. A steady stream of smoke coming from his lips.
"Dispute me on this, please do, take some responsibility for your given posts and get motivated. If you're a Zoner Guard like me, then get in your ship and start securing Freeports, start hunting this loon "Joke" down, bring him in, kill him, do what pleases you. Don't go telling one person that it is their fault when we didn't do anything to help solve this problem as the Zoners we are. Or you can let this roll you over and not care, you may as well hand in your I.D.'s and register as a Freelancer, its all you are in my eye, an uncaring individual willing to watch the house burn, rather than throw your lot in and help put it out. All I have to say on that."
He snuffs the cigar into the ash tray, then presses a button near the screen, it flicks to blackness, and shuts down.

Ahh.. Broken Hammer. Ive seen you before I reckon. Do not worry about this insignifficant fly. We have been threatened before, with far bigger threats as Silvan has pointed out. Just look at that tiny Hessian group, or the QCP. All defeated under our mighty wrath. Sit back, Relax, and have some of our fine, Grade A. Pendularian Home Grown Synthetic Marijuana

We are as we were when that first group left House space. Some of us have grown tired of Silvan's underhanded attempt at rule. She abuses her power and tries to force herself upon those that don't want her. As far as I am concerned she is the same as the people our ancestors left behind in House space. As for you claiming that some of us have told her to give in; please captain, do check yourself. Clearly Silvan has influenced you. The words you refer aren't ones telling Silvan to give in; they are advising her to take this man a little more serious. Her offhand insults only worsen the matter, but as you claim to admire her, I guess you condone such actions.
As for moving to help Silvan, she has alienated herself from the majority of the Zoner population. Your Council has less than a dozen members, yet Silvan feels she leads our people. The fact that she has angered a man enough that he threatens our entire people is something to note and remember.
I have moved to help our people. Contrary to what you and Silvan believe, use of arms isn't the only way to solve problems. Had Silvan not been so power hungry and taken the Alliance's hand when they extended perhaps we'd already have forged something and achieved unity as a people by now; instead she ignored that hand because she was afraid to lose the power she had just achieved.
Perhaps if you weren't so influenced by your dear Silvan, you'd be able to judge things better. The fact that your Council numbers so few and other Zoner leaders have distanced themselves from her should sound an alarm. Think on that my dear captain.
As for the matter that presses us all now. Rest assured, you aren't the only people working to save lives. As Orphelia has said, our people have come out ahead against more fearsome folk.
I will take my leave now, I have things to attend to. Take care of yourself out there and don't be so quick to judge those that don't see eye to eye with you captain.

Ah, yes, the sabotaged negotiations I once led with the QCP. Oh yes, I was chairman then. I got two bits of honor out of that whole thing. One, Zoners who deferred to my judgment as I used the road of diplomacy even if they wanted a fight which is NOT the Zoner way and the other was some mutual respect I developed between myself and Sir Andrew Stuart. It's too bad, really, because I was making progress with him when some independent Zoners sabotage those efforts with the attack of a couple of privateers and interrupting those negotiations by either hacking into our channel or coming into the office of which we were working. It took the Zoner factions leaving the Council, thus, leaving those independent Zoners behind, to find the peace we so desired.
I even followed the Council's advice in regards to the Smokeones and ignored them when all they wanted was a small office on Gran Canaria. True enough, they went away but not after killing hundreds, if not thousands, of Zoners.
What to do about The Joker? I only have to worry about Baffin and I'm not worried as I haven't stepped on his toes. In fact, the factions probably won't have much to worry about. He isn't angry with us, just the CoZ or what is left of it. I don't know what will be done but Med.Force.One will be on stand by, ready to do it's duty should it come to that.
And for those who pursued Joker through Baffin yesterday, I do appreciate the fact that permission was asked for to make a block at the Coronado JH. What you do OUTSIDE of Baffin is your business. I don't care who you are, Baffin is a weapons hold Zone.

The light of his cigar illuminates his face with a soft red glow, the myriad of blue hues painting the inside of his cockpit as he looks out at the asteroids drifting about.
"I used to take a small mote of assurement that I wasn't sway to the grips of any faction of Zoners, as I came to this understanding after leaving an older life behind, I wanted to do things by what my instinct and heart told me. I didn't like taking orders from a general on the rear lines, I wanted to choose what happened to the situation in the here and now. I suppose it's why I feel the need to do drastic things."
He flicks the cigar ash into a small tray next to his navigational screen, placing it back onto his lips, he'd take a long draw of the stub.
"Doc, I had a deep respect for you in your neutrality in the face of sheer adversity, and you still hold that quality even now. Though now is when we should be rallying together when any one Zoner is threatened. Council of Zoners be damned, the T.A.Z. be damned, we are all affected if this nut decides to kill hundreds of people by assaulting, or destroying a Freeport."
He presses a button on his console, a thump is heard, not too long after the flicker of distant, yellow lights fills his cockpit, soon to be replaced by the myriad of blues.
"I'm a Zoner Guard, first and foremost, I took up a gun to make sure we have a bit of peace and quiet, safety and refuge. I ask the Zoners as a whole for their acknowledgement of this "Joker" as our enemy, and that the Zoner Guard has their blessing to take the man into custody, or barring that, hunt him to his last breath. I wait for your answer."
The screen goes dark.

Oh the beauty of chaos and those that hold it dear to their hearts. Damned be the TAZ is it... I doubt its for one cabbage Zoner guard commander to proclaim, for only Eris can decide if we're to be cast into the Region of Thud and none other. As far as the CoZ goes and those whom may want to implement harm to it or its members, our fellow brethren..... With the rise of order is often , the following of a rise in Chaos. This was one of the main reasons for the TAZ stepping away from the CoZ. With the rise of disorder, there became an appearent backlash of violence that threatened our wholeness of neutrality. Why should the children of Eris pay in blood for the folleys of the unannointed ? We shouldnt and thus we decided to continue on in the ways that the Goddess has lead us into and away from the CoZ.
Does this mean we will not mourn any loss of life of our fellow brethren ? Of course it doesnt. But we cannot be the sheppards of all that is Zoner, the flock is many and the sheppards are few. We will continue to hold you in thought as we consult our pineal's. But for now Eris has been clear on our stance, and with her words I shall leave you: "The Zoners will begin solving its problems on the day that it ceases taking itself so seriously "
Mr. Cross, how can you say I don't take the man seriously enough when I and Mr. Helfari are the only Zoners doing anything about the situation. No other Zoner has taken any steps towards stopping this man. In fact, the TAZ even tried to forbid me from station a Zoner ship in Baffin, which they had no right to do, as said byt he A.D.M.I.N entities. Who here is truly trying to do anything about this situation? The TAZ just admitted; They don't care what happens to other Zoners as long as they are left alone. Zoners work together, not apart Doc. Maybe the TAZ would best fit as a group of Freelancers, for that is what you are at this point.
And Mr. Cross, you state use of arms aren't the only weapons to use.. I would've thought you would know by now that I agree with that, considering the actions I took in regards to the Bretonian Privateers and the Smokeones, who wanted far far more than an office on Gran Canaria. That is an boldfaced lie by Mr. Holiday, and I can even bring up the old negotiations to prove it to you. In this situation however, we have two choices; I step down as chairman, which will simply make the Joker pick a new demand, or someone else come in his place, and threaten us again until they get what they want. Accede to one demand and you get hit with a dozen more. I'm concerned with what happens to us in the future as much as what is happening now.
You say I'm powerhungry and did not take the Alliance's hand when it was offered.. And when was that Mr. Cross? When did the Alliance ever extend the hand of friendship or cooperation? In fact, I've been the one doing that towards them, not the other way around. I've encouraged them to give me feedback on the latest proposal I've made, and to participate in it as well, so that we can work together on issues that affect all of us. I have yet to hear back from them, after a week now.
And when the Alliance first formed? Did they ever even notify the Council of Zoners? No. What 'hand of friendship' was shown when they entire Alliance was formulated behind close doors? I was never even spoken to by a member of the Alliance until after it was already made. They made it very clear that they did not want my help, my participation, nor my opinions, and even stated, plain as day, that they wanted to disband the Council of Zoners as a whole. How is that the hand of friendship, I really would like to hear it.. I went to the Alliance, since none of them came to me, and asked what was going on, how this would affect us, and why I was not even notified of the Alliance's existence until a galaxy-wide public announcement was sent. There is only one answer to that..
I've tried several times to seal the rift that opened between the Council and the Alliance, but I have been rebuffed every time. The Alliance has made it very clear they are opposed to any cooperation with the Council of Zoners. Yev Lightwing is the only person who has treated me or the Council with any respect.
Maybe if the Alliance were not dead set on dissolving the Council of Zoners entirely, things could change for the better. And if you don't believe that is indeed their goal, maybe you will if you hear it from the leader of the Zoner Trade Consortium..
' Wrote:From: Louisa Salome, (]c[)
Thus we would appreciate independent Zoners to join the ZUI voluntarily by abandoning and finally dissolving the CoZ completely
So who, really, has caused the current rift between the Council and the Alliance?
The screen stays dark, a soft clicking of metal on metal is heard.
"I have my answer, if all you people are set to squabble over who's right, who's wrong.. you all make me sick. I'm out to kill the man who's caused this ruckus, and all you pen-pushers and smooth talkers can have your stage. Win, lose, or die, I'll do something rather than wait and see if it's the Freeport I docked at which get's to play the victim. I am angry with Miss Silvan at turning my frequency into a polotical debate. Though it's how all of the leaders act, isn't it? So long as it doesn't affect them, they won't care."
There is a moment's lingering silence, a sigh makes it's way across.
"Here I thought I knew who the enemy was, seems we might as well be in civil war if all our leaders can decide for us is we can hate one another. I've got my target, this Joker's going down, the Pendulum's captain sees on my level, we will crush this enemy of all Zoners, and we'll dispense our justice on him. Especially since our leaders are too busy to."

If we are to succeed against any threats in the future, no matter how large or insignifficantly tiny, we must stop this horrible infighting. We must have a united front. This is what the "Joke" wants, To tear us apart with arguing from the inside, leaving him victorious.
"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar." (Julius Caesar)
These A.D.M.I.N entities may have overlooked a protocol established by them within the Sirius Sector long ago.
//ooc "As for faction systems themselves, factions are completely free in what should be done there. They can impose their own taxes, rules of conduct, and any rules that they find suitable. These rules might even contradict main server rules." Maybe some prewarnings where due, or proper RP involved in the reasoning of the moment , I'm unsure nor was there to justify if it was or wasnt present. But its not beyond the scope of something we could do or can enforce.
"In effect, chaos is life. All mess, all riot of color, all protoplasmic urgency, all movementis chaos. From this point of view, Order appears as death, cessation, crystallization, alien science."
TAZ practices the worship of Eris, and aspects of ontological anarchy wound up into the Zoners way of life. Absolute order or order that in general is not for the good of Discordianism isnt something we would follow in the long run. That hardly stands to say we are not Zoners or acting as Zoners. Zoners are a diverse group of individuals who, for "various reasons", have decided to live in the wild unregulated systems outside of colonial control. As Zoners and Discordians we value our Neutrality, if even at the cost of seperateing ourselves from other Zoner based factions and social societies. TAZ was here before the CoZ , the CoZ was in part a piece of Mals work and desire to have at one time, but at this time we [TAZ] do not have an overwhelming desire to participate in, nor have the reprecussions of its actions effect us.
Have we turned our backs totally towards the situation at hand, I think not, as Doc has offered Med.Force.One to be on stand by, ready to do it's duty should it come to that.
