Pretty much the WoW 3 day trial, then. It's just aiming to get you hooked.

No thanks. I refuse to pay for the game, and then to pay monthly fees as well, whilst hearing how all the private servers are being shut down/threatened with law suits. You pay for the game itself, you should be able to play it on a LAN at least.

For the Core.

Most MMOs pay for themselves in sense. Most come with 1 month.
WoW for example, its like 20 bucks then 30 days free. Basically paying 5 bucks for the game.

Some are Free Download of Client with option to buy Retail box for Free game time, convenience of CD instead of a 10GB Download, bonus content and more.
EVE Online - Free to Download of Client but Subscription Required
Lineage II - Same as above.
Aion - Client Free Download (Its on Fileplanet) but Subscription Required.
Just the name of a few examples.

Was in the Fileplanet Beta. Played it for two days and stopped. I have a good size amount of Turbine points waiting for me to collect though for participating.
Might go back later on down the road. PvE was interesting. Playing with a few people from Disco would make it more enjoyable.

WAR is still going slowly the Download. They make you use the Client to download.:(

me and Silent Assassin are playing on the Cannith server of DnD online, Level 18 rogue here silent is a lvl 18 ranger

We got VIP also, it really is a fun game, PVE / questing is the best part about the game id say.

It is not a grind MMO either, it is fun... end game takes a bit of getting ingredients for your armour/weps but it is fast and easy compared to other mmo's to get to lvl 20 (max lvl is 20) and there is alot of diversity between the classes. It truly has a sense of all the classes having a purpose which is very good imo... alot of games lack that.. alot of one sided classes.

drop me a line anytime if you decide to play.

Name is Lohingrin

and Silent is rangou

I've been playing DDO for a little while, it's quite fun, I'd probably be higher level if I didn't have that 10 week break.

WAR
Their version of pvp (RvR) is fun. I dunno how their scoring goes but it seems I have 395 kills.:D
Although a bit repetitive, fight, die, respawn, go back in repeat until you take the objective.
Or their is instances/Scenarios think Battlefield Conquest mode or Assault.
Nothing like your traditional MMORPG for sure.

I've actually been playing DDO since october, i have to say it is alot of fun. The best part about the free2play aspect of it, is that you can actually max out the level of your char without spending a penny on the p2p stuff. They also have this thing called the DDO store, basically you can buy adveture packs and other things that are not included in the f2p account using DDO store points. These points can be baught using money but you can also earn these points through what they call favor rewards ingame. As a matter of fact, if you realy wanted to put the time in you could earn enough favor rewards to buy most of the p2p content ingame without spending a penny.
