Errrrrr....NO! Just for important zones that really need to be defended. Take a other perspective.
Corp directors would be more than pleased to see their employers safe and bringing lots of ores to the company :rtfm:
It is more likely a roleplay idea...
Company directors would buy some WPs rather than buying a BC to guard the mining site and F1 it there for possible threats...
Miners are relatively defenceless, all their resources go into mining ... They have security wings to deal
with problems like pirates.
And another minor point, some of the mining companies do not like each other at all, nor the independents
either, so they would be shooting mining ships as well, depending on which field you are hanging around in.
So I'll re-iterate ... NO.

I make my money with a red hessian smuggler.Because the good trade routes are out of ZoI, i can't use any escorts. I fly a pirate train what can be easily distrupted, fighters bombers and gunboats can take me out easily, AND i can also be attacked by a cruiser. Lawful miners/traders have usually a base to dock in atleast 20k, smugglers don't. If you have a daumann/Kurger miner, then you can thank a lot to Wolfspirit, that he pays mercs and bounty hunters to patrol omega 7, making pirating harder for pirates. Minefields are usually located close to a base, so you have a good chance to dock before you get killed, AND you can aslo use escorts. So dont think about how could you make mining even more safer, you should be thankfull that you have such an advantage over traders and smugglers. :rtfm:
