I fear that EA has once again castrated the fruits of Westwood's labors. Generals and Zero Hour were goodish. Different, but it was a completely different game, so still good.
RA3 was a 7.8/10 on the disappointment scale because it didn't have even the slightest feel of the old Red Alerts. It was clumsy and toony, and the Japanese were impossible to beat.
Now C&C 4? They've gone so far as to remove base building and Tiberium (for resource purposes). I'm terrified. So frightened, in fact, that I'm contemplating holding a Wake for the greatest of all game series' going up in flames at the strange and nontraditional ways of EA.
What then, pray tell, replaces the bases? A mech. An omnipotent mech that constructs units. It also holds units, so it's like an APC with a capacity just low enough to make it useless.
What more is there to say? They've taken everything away that might otherwise be spoken about.
P.S. On the plus side, they're taking their own advice on what's cool and adding <strike>Titans</strike> "Global Stratospheric Transports". Fairly cool. Doesn't make up for turning Chuck Norris into Marilyn Monroe.

Is it possible to make a better game than was already made?
Even if the units look like this? :
Oh yes, and I musn't forget Dog from Half-Life,
-Edit-
To be fair, however, the storyline does look fairly good, and the live action cinemas look easily twice as awesome as in C&C 3. Even if they butcher the gameplay, it might be worth playing through just to get a good story. So Bob is right in that regard.

Hence why I'm waiting for Star Craft 2 to get my RTS fix. Until then its the original Star Craft and Red Alert 2 ( The of them all IMO).
Edit: C&C 4 has promise. C&C 3 wasn't bad. I found myself whoring Titans, and Wolverines in online games but that's me. Looks like it could surprise us. But I do a great.. someone needs to hit the EA headquarters with an Ion Cannon.
If you want to try the MP.
I would suggest trying to get into the Open MP beta to try it out.
Its fun, although very VERY different. More micro then anything.

I'm not sure I have the hard drive space.:PBut yeah, I've been considering making room for it. It's worth giving a chance, I just don't think it'll feel like C&C. Don't know if I don't find out though, I guess.
