[color=#33FF33] Good day gentlemen. *very pleased* [font=Arial Black]I am extremely happy with your work.
You're devotion and effectiveness is surprising.
I am glad to announce you that our Murilo Mining Facility is up and running. Also the
research team on the planet have mounted a transmission relay on it's surface.
From now on we will use the Murilo Relay to enhance our communication channels.
We will keep this channel up and running for Internal business and to keep every OZ member up to date with
our work and needs.
Good job everyone, the council is extremely pleased.
You should go and celebrate now, you have earned it.
I still need someone to make a report about the operation though, to add it to the archives.
No need to hurry about that, take some rest.
*kindly laughs*
Oh and by the way, give the report to one of our reporters as well, I want this subject to be aired.
*from the hood's cover you can see a smile*
I'm signing off now,
Libra
Good day miss. *bows* Thank you for your kind words. We only did our job.
We managed to gather the materials to build the Murilo mining facility as well as a small docking ring. *thinks* We need to do something about the Gallics. It was quite hard to get certain materials.
And we might need more of those materials in the future.
I would like to state that captain O'hanna did an excellent work with defending our transports
But we still need to hire more security personnel. At the moment I have deployed O'Hanna to orbit
around Murillo and secure the facility.
Here are some guncams I took on the operation.
*[Deploying the Base]*[Shields Opperational]*[Prometheus guarding the station]*
The Murilo facility is up an running as you already know. However the mining outpost on Murilo's
surface is developing at slow speed. The atmosphere of the planet and the low temperature
slow us down. I would advise to acquire some terraforming equipment and maybe increase
the temperature a bit because some of our materials just freeze and shatter. Not to much though,
we don't want to turn the entire planet in to ahuge ocean.*laughs*
Also, at the moment only trained personnel can go to the surface and only smallshuttles can go trough the atmosphere.
Therefor the supplying of the surface outpost is notgoing according to plans.
Still we are advancing slow but steady. If everything keeps going this way we will be able to
even inhabit the planet with small colonies in a few months.
It has been some time since I have reported back into this channel,
Please excuse me, I have been rather busy.
Firstly I would like to now say that my contact with the IMG Secretary
has been as success and OZ: tagged ships are now free to dock on
Falster Station.
Secondly that as Mikrosh can attest I have sorted out a slight security
problem regarding a BHG captain believing our Mining Project on
Murilo was the work of the Order.
I have since corrected him and he has assured me that
a Zoner installation is under no threat from the BHG and also
encouraged us to ask if we need any assistance in the future
regarding the Nomad Problem.
Finally it is with great regret that I must report the disassembly of
Transylvania, under Mikrosh's orders I have evacuated it and used
the guns aboard Prometheus for quick deconstruction.
Although some of its infrastructure was lost to space I was able to
cut it quite accurately with the light weapons and the majority
of it has been saved. The remains are shored in the cargo of two of
our whales; Emerald and Hermes, ready to be used in the construction
of Murilo.
The remains are to be used to build a base on the surface of Murilo and
my engineers have already created a Memorial plate to be placed
infront of the base.
[color=#FFFF33]
You don't stop to impress me, Captain.
*smiles* [font=Arial Black]You remind me of me.
The council is extremely pleased of your services Mrs. O'hanna.
We have also been informed about the security wing you have assembled.
Nice work!
If we keep it this way, we will hit the top in no time.
Take care of you, and keep up the good work!
Libra out.
*She appears on the monitors her hair filled with flecks of snow and ice
and her usual green uniform covered by a thick fur coat*
Again, my apologies for the lack of contact with you.
Since Mikrosh suffered from a bit of a cold since his
last visit planet side I thought I should instead act on his
stead for this visit.
With Murilo Mining Facility receiving the materials needed
to further stabilise the planetary docking in order for us to
move more materials down the to surface of the planet.
The remains of Transylvania were safely brought to
Murilo's surface and are now safely buried under a protective
layer of snow and ice.
I decided to evacuate as many of the population down to the
surface of Murilo as possible, they have plentiful supplies and
fuel to burn for warmth. This will reduce the risk of further
casualties from attacks on the station.
Finally, I have asked the engineers aboard Murilo's Surface to
increase the signal jamming strength of our comms relay.
It seems a 77th is attempting to breach the planet with his
comm signals, I have no idea why but he mentioned a drone
of some sort.
When questioned further I was shot at with an anti-capital weapon.
Due to this I have told all OZ trading staff not to contact the 77th
vessels....
Greetings honorable councilors. *bows he's head with respect*
I am apologize for my absence, but the temperature on Murilo as well as the stress of the
bounty hunters attacks got to my old bones.
I am feeling much better now, thanks to our devoted medics.
*opens some report tabs on the terminal*
As Mrs. O'hanna informed you, the Murilo Surface Team is making progress. We managed to
build a small shelter covered by snow to prevent it from freezing. Mrs. O'hanna moved most
of the refugees to the shelter, and our men train the refugees as we speak.
The refugees feel quite comfortable despite the harsh conditions on the planet. They finally
found a place to start over and build a home. I do my best to help them and make them feel
needed within our ranks.
The mining operations didn't start yet, and we are not sure when we can start them. All the
mining gear from the mining sites froze. The temperatures are not good for mining operations
yet. We thought about building mining shelters and mine from the safety of a shelter, but that
would come with an ineffective cost, therefore we abandoned the mining program for now.
I will try and find some teraformes or some equipment to help as increase the temperature
on the planet's surface.
I think that is all about our domestic problems, I will send you a full report with our operations
costs and with more details about our new personnel.
*opening a tab with military recordings*
Now, about the latest diplomatic issues with the bounty hunters.
*takes a short look over the tabs*
This is what I was looking for. Here you have our attempt to avoid the conflict with the bounty
hunters. We did our best to settle this down on a diplomatic way, but those folks are to stubborn.
They like slashing and killing and all that stuff, so, they see us as their own toys. From my experience
with them, they are nothing but former convicts and criminals led by the smell of blood and by the
power of credits. So I think they gave up on reason quite a while ago.
We haven't opened fire yet. But it seems that they are corrupted and irrational. Therefore they are a
threat to mankind. I would like to ask for permission to cleanse Sirius from this threat. As long as they
are out there, they are a threat for us. Not to mention that they seek to destroy the order who proved to
be a great ally in defending the station. Not to mention the importance of The Order in the war with the nomads.
Also, my son managed to obtain an alliance with the Order which granted us access to order technology
and equipment.
The Murilo security has been improved and we plan to add more security platforms to keep the outsiders,
well,*smiles* out...
*opens some more tabs*
As you can see here, all the siege attempts failed. Our scientists did a good job with the shields and our
engineers did their part with the repairs. I would like to ask for some more personnel founds and I would
like to inform you that the founds allocated for the Orbiting Facility are running low. Especially now since
our trade fleet has problems to follow the old route due to the Bounty Hunters.
*closes all the tabs and opens another one with a ship sketch on it*
And, finally, I would like to ask you permission to build another capital ship. Since the bounty hunters
are hunting us now, we need to improve our security. Now, we face a double problem. Not only that
the Bounty Hunters attack us, but we can not hire them to escort our ships anymore, so we are quite
defenseless.
I would like to start the project Borderline but we need extra founds for this one.
Good day for you ladies and gentlemen.
You've been quit busy it seems.
Good work on the Murilo project. I am glad to see it rise.
-opens the Bounty Hunter reports- So, they waged war upon us? -thinks-This is not something I predicted.
From your report Mr. Ancestor, it seems that they are not reasonable
indeed. The rest of the council is a bit shocked about this issue and they
still hope we can settle this down on a peaceful way. I really doubt that
those murderers are not the talkative kind of people, so I believe that the
best way to deal with them is to play dirty. However, that will be quite hard
since the other councilors will be hard to convince.
You have my clearance to engage the Core. -thinks-I suggest not to do it unless in self
defense for now. We need to build a small
fleet and retaliate. I will do my best and
expose their criminal ways to higher forces
and, whit a bit of luck we might cut down
their profits, or, at least reduce them to a
minimum. After that we could strike them
down with the help of the Order. We desperately
need to end this threat, we have the nomads to
worry about already.
All the found to further research and for the colony project should be approved
in a few days. As for the military research I will have to pull out some found on
my own, since the other councilors won't back us up on this, they are to stubborn
and a bunch of cowards if you ask me. But, that is not our main concern right now
I would like to congratulate you all for your work so far.
You did extraordinary job with the Colony Project, as well
as you did with keeping it safe despite the Core attacks.
Also, the alliance with the Order was an inspired decision.
*A small man appears on the Monitors huddled under a fur coat.
His hands clasp around a small leather book as he addresses the monitor.*
Hello... This is our first live update from the planet surface on this channel.
I only just received access to upload on this frequency, I hope you are receiving this.
My name is Mark Shieldson, I am the lead engineer for the colonisation
of Murilo. I hope you are able to see the live feed I have uploaded from the
outdoor camera, it is our weather cam on the surface and also allows
us to remotely check the status of the MCT. (Murilo Communication Transmitter)
Anyway, I am sending this broadcast because of a few issues I discussed
earlier yesterday morning with Mrs O'hanna, having explained to her
she decided that I should broadcast my thoughts to Mikrosh and...
the... erm, Council? via this channel...
Anyway, ...
Firstly I would just like to say that as asked I have made a few alterations
to the MCT an it is now set to pick up a much wide range of communications
and will automatically retransmit garbaldy-gook on the same frequency of
any non-authorised communications it picks up.
I am not sure why you wanted this, but... It should stop all non-authorised
communication to and from the planet...
I also did a few recalibrations of the receivers and emitters, and
tightened some of the wind breakers for good measure.
As well as this I would like to announce the complete reconstruction of the
Transylvania station material planet side and if you care to know the details
I have my notes so I can show you how things are arranged.
*The man shuffles through his book finding a piece of lined paper*
Look here,
This is a small sketch of a the facility from the front,
the MCT sits on the surface of the planet and then underneath
we have a elevator shaft stretching down into the planet surface.
Around the bottom of the elevator shaft we have reinforced the
ceiling and hollowed out a small cave so that we could reconstruct
the Transylvania pieces.
On the right you can see what we have done with the Transylvania
pieces we received, who ever thought of using them by the way was
a genius... They were built for insulating from the vacuum of space
they are doing a superb job down here. Although who ever was
responsible for their deconstruction must have no been a qualified
engineer... They looked to have been deconstructed with explosives...
Anyway... We used two of the pods A and C to create the sleeping quarters,
splitting them into two floors and salvaging the converging walls for building
materials elsewhere.
Together they hold enough room for 232 beds with enough room to move
and thus we have two teams working on opposing day/night cycles,
whilst half the population sleeps the other half work...
The bottom half of the picture shows the facility from the top down...
This more clearly shows how the station remains have been positioned.
It also shows where we have positioned the MOX powered generator
we use for heating and electricity.
Finally you can see the area that our mining team have been digging out
and now are underway using the materials provided to build a large cargo
hold within the underground facility.
Anyway... This is where it gets interesting...
We have been doing alot of digging down here... but...
we have yet to discover anything but snow and ice...
You see the thing is we originally drilled to a specific depth
because we believed it would be the depth at which we hit
dirt... Bedrock... ground... mud... You know...
But we have yet to even find a lump of the stuff whist digging
around down here... I am not a geologist but, we only setup on
the equator because we knew the ice would be thinnest here...
Either we are right on top of an anomaly or... well... the ice crust
on Murilo might just be damn thicker than we thought...
And that could mean some interesting things for us...
I mean, if the Ice is thicker than we thought that means
there is alot more water than we thought...
Not only that but...
Well... look here...
*The man seems to get excited at this point quickly flicking
to another page in his grubby book and showing the screen*
If you look at the middle picture on the left you will see a
representation of the depth of ice we expected, and thus...
by releasing this ice into the air the amount we could increase
the atmosphere.
However.... if the ice is thicker, that means that when we
heat the planet up and more of the ice is melted, more
gasses will be released into the atmosphere...
This lead me to a theory about the planet its self...
Now I am no Geologist but... The planet has very small
amounts of Methane and CO2 in the atmosphere...
So I did some tests on the ice and found that it has quite
a bit of CO2 within it...
I believe this planet might have been kept warm by the
greenhouse effect caused by the huge amounts of water
vapour in its atmosphere... however if something dramatic
happened to affect the planet temperature for even a short
period of time with would affect the water vapour in the
atmosphere and thus reduce this greenhouse gas heating
effect...
Because of this, it would be a degenerative cycle...
The less water vapour in the air, the less greenhouse
effect, the colder it got and thus the less water vapour
in the air...
... Anyway this is a tangent...
A more concerning matter is what this increase in ice means
for the planet once we colonise it further... by my estimates,
and again I am not a Geologist!... we are looking at a minimum
of 70% of the planet surface covered in water... and maybe
as much as 90%!!!
I believe Murilo was a ruddy water world!!!
Infact...
Water doesn't freeze at certain pressure points...
We might have a problem...
Bugger!!!
We could be sat on a damn ice pond with a bloody
ocean underneath us!!!
...
Hold on a second...
We cant dig down any further unless we know what's
bloody below us... We need some scanning equipment
pronto... Otherwise we might just drill ourselves down
into a watery grave...
Sorry ... I have to cut this short!...
I will call a halt to all drilling operations in search
of ground... We will attempt to do our best to strengthen
our ties to the elevator shaft... It can probably take our
weight... it iss that is securely connected to
several million tons of ice with miles of supporting beams
that run horizontally out from it... so... well...
*A quick pause*
It should hold the weight of our currently quite small base
even if the layer of snow and ice below us was to drop into
the abyss... Securing it will be an issue though, but I will
do my best...
*the man turns and quickly turns of the screen
grabbing his paper and fur hat as he does so.*
Greetings Mikrosh and Council
*O'hanna appears from her chambers aboard the Prometheus,
stood infront a full length mirror and adusting her hair,
deciding whether to wear it up or down.
Her usual green uniform replaced by a long flowing green dress*
I have decided to take up an offer I have recieved from Mr Daniels
of the Bounty Hunter Core. I shall be arranging to meet him for
a drink in the bar on Freeport 11, I will be leaving immediately.
After the huge skirmish between the Order and the BHG in Zeta
today infront of Murilo Mining it is apparent we must attempt to fix
this mess. I have comissioned some cerberus turrets to be delivered
and fitted whilst on my visit to the Freeport.
*She pauses, finally letting her hair drop
and ruffles it letting it fall round her shoulders.*
I am glad you have finally come round to my way of thinking and
that we are arming to face the BHG with force if necessary.
However I wish to give the charm offensive one last ditch attempt.
Greetings brothers and sisters Obsidians. *bows he's head with respect*
To: Mr. Mark Shieldson
I am very happy to hear about the Murilo progress. For that hostile temperature you are doing
excellent work Mr. Shieldson. I am pleased to have you among us. Me and Miss Libra have
considered to offer you a substantial promotion. Keep up the good work and keep us posted
about the excavation progress. And since you are already on Murilo please let us know how
the people are doing there and feel free to ask us any commodities that will make your life
on the planet easier.
To: Mrs. Colin O'hanna
That might come in handy, please try and talk with Mr. Daneils face to face, but stay on guard
we don't want you to fall in one of their traps. We can't afford to loose you. Don't feel disappointed
if you don't manage to rationalize with him, even if he proved to be a nice man before, he's loyalty
stands with the Core. Keep us posted on your progress.
To: Miss Libra
Due to the fact that I am not a warrior type and since Mrs. O'hanna proves to handle the Prometheus
better than I do, I request if possible a new ship for my use. My surveyor is a bit rusty and outdated
for my needs. I could use another ship for a safer transportation as well as I need one for exploration
and surveys. If it is not to much at the moment, I could really use a bigger ship, Murilo is to cold for
my old bones and I've gave up my office aboard Prometheus to a better use, but I still need an office
and my surveyor is just not fitted.
