Wouldn't be able to fire a BR methinks... Or a missile.


BR = Power-Usage: 115,000.00

Basic G Missile Turret = Power-Usage: 200,000.00


Advanced Train = Power Output: 60000

or it might just mean that nublet traders start spamming missiles the moment they drop of of the lane...

GB missiles might be a bit much!

But allowing Transports to use GB weapons means the powercore becomes the limiting factor.

This can be used to balance the ships.

I would see transports packing a mix or factional GB turrets and generic transport turrets - this would be quite a nice thing to see!

1 GB turret is utterly useless. Really. Gunboat turret projectiles even don't have same speed as transport. And missile can't hit anything. Only possible use I see is to mount there pulse cannon.

the argument used against being shot down by an occasional pirate in a costly transport is the same argument that is used on battleship captains to prevent being shot down by - well.... 2 or 3 occasional bomberpilots that like to mess around.

i don t really see why transports should be excluded from that formula when other ships have to suffer. - veteran players have said countless times that "getting escorts" is easy. ( well, they must know i guess )

on a more serious note: -

i d rather add multivector gunmounts on transports so that they can mount fightermissiles. - if - lets say... a transport had eight missilelaunchers ( 1 to each side + up and down ) with tight firing arcs - he could mount a few firestalkers or sidewinders to keep the occasional fighter busy - and its really just keeping the fighter busy.... cause firing a missile outside a joust is rather pointless anyway.

Good post Snazzy.

The yacht can allready fire a single GB gun, up to a pulse in size.

I've seen noob bombers get pwnd by yachts with a pulse and transport turrets before (but then with their 'skill' demonstrated, that may have happend regardless).

Some like the Shire prehaps give 2-4ish GB turrets plus the powerplant for heavier weps.

PTrans should get a buff under this as well, it's allready better than a GB as is other than size/turning if properly armored.

Prehaps 3 GB guns for a PTrans (the two 360 waist guns, and one of the dorsal guns prehaps)

This will certainly make piracy more intersting, it's too easy as is if you do it smart.

No, it adds options. Plus theres weapons grouping.

And if you cant hit with a GB missle, you're doing it wrong.

A transport needing escort =/= a BS needing escort

A battleship is a state of the art war platform

A transport is a truck in space

Yet both are qualy worthless against bombers it seems.

Actualy, some of the smaller transports, if flown right, can actualy have a chance against a bomber.

A BS, unless ALL solaris (which is pretty darned silly) has minimal chance against a few bombers.

Now, that said, I liken transports to the supply convoys in WW2 and the pie rats to commerce raiding subs.

Sure the sub can hurt them..... but the sub never knows when it'll run into a Qship.

Mixing turrets from different class on one ship just introduces a lot of issues.

It might be as easy to make a class 7 "razor", with energy use damage and speed adapted to transports. Not that it's likely to happen.

Want a transport that has a fighting chance? Get a Borderworld's transport. 4 foward firing turrents and 5 aft. Still, most pirates will have the advantage since many now use gunboats but I have personally taken out fighters and bombers.

Speaking of transports, IMO, Whale pilots are asking for it. I wouldn't fly an unarmed ship!

I'm sorry to tell you but you are wrong! Gunboats with missile turrets are very good anti-fighter/bomber. So the possible GB turret mount on a transport would be very effective when you try too flee a pirate.

If missile hits, that is. 1 out of 10 times if ever. On local server, without lag, it hits 10 out of 10.
