I kind of take offense to your comment there AJ, about players using IDs with few restrictions being of lower-RP quality than "the rest of us".
I'm a proud player brandishing a Coalition ID for well over two years now, and in that time I have seen nothing but quality roleplay from my squadmates over these many many months.
I've also run into a plethora of Phantoms, Wilde, and the occasional Terrorist, all of whom ply their RP trade with the utmost respect for what they have been given.
I tend to agree with Sina, although with less veracity than he showed. No one likes to be killed in space for what, to them, is no reason whatsoever. But many a time it is the newer, less informed, less-than-stellar player that Disco has attracted who do most of the complaining. They run to the forums and post a hate-thread about the individual or group that unfairly and heartlessly destroyed them. Instead, they should be looking for WHY they were destroyed.
Faction statuses are there for a reason. Personally, I think that every official faction with a feedback thread should post as their first in the topic a copy of their Faction Status, with stated goals, reasons, etc.
Everyone had different experience with those factions, Schlurbi, if you had good experience doesn't mean everyone else had.
And by comments and complains you can see was there more good or bad experiences.
But some people judge those encounters differently then others, so for someone is bad if it's not what they expected, for someone that is good cause they were suprised.
Like Tenacity, I can only call it from one point of view, that of the Keepers.
If you go into Nomad space, you better expect to die, or at least get seriously screwed up.
Scratch my back, though, and I'll scratch yours. Constant PvP isn't fun. Roleplay is better. RP with me, and I'll do my best to reciprocate.
You will, of course, have to forgive me if I wind up blowing you away anyways.
EDIT: Strawman, I smell Karlotta.

Treewyrm Wrote:all in all the conclusion is that disco doesn't need antagonist factions, it doesn't need phantoms, it doesn't need nomads, it doesn't need coalition and it doesn't need many other things, no AIs, the game is hijacked by morons to confuse the game with their dickwaving generic competition games mixed up with troll-of-the-day.
I didnt say that I only had perfect Confrontations with all of these Factions. I remember the Day when I met a Keeper in my old Fearless. Only one Line spoken, but that was well my own Fault. Shouldnt have run into Iota, not ten Minutes later one Bomber grew up to two Bombers, Gunboat and a Battleship. That really was a funny Day.
See, even that happens to me. I live with it, don't start to put the Forums on Fire. I just laugh at my own Mistake.
"Who is it doing this synthetic type of alpha beta psychedelic funkin'?"
Nothing to be jealous about those factions. They are normal, just like LN or LSF, just different RP and they can kill everything(:P). Sure I would like to be a Phantom or Wilde, but you can't have everything. If I see those I still have fun fighting them (and mostly killing).
' Wrote:Such over-generalizations do nothing but hinder ones ability of introspection, hindering with it our ability to progress and better our roleplay.
Or to put it simply: "Oh, we don't need to change anything, everyone else is just jealous" is an asinine excuse to do nothing.
In my opinion, from my experiences over these past 1 year and a half, if people whine it's for a good darned reason. The overall RP standard shown by most people brandishing IDs with few restrictions is significantly lower to those with more. I'd even dare to say that the relation Restrictions-Quality of RP is an inversely proportional one.
Nope, sorry but in this community it is a damn accurate generalization if you ask me. Plenty of Factions abuse PvP in so many ways, but the attention always go to certain "special" or "invite-only" Factions. That is the truth, and although even these factions make mistakes (humans, duh.) there is no doubt that they are always the ones to be blamed in this community.
So, I still stand by the fact it being primarily jealousy. If you disagree, well your opinion.
Actually, I agree with most of the things which Strawman mentioned, but I am not that kind of people to let it out. I know it won't mean a thing, and it will just make me look bad so I don't bother usually.
I myself had more bad then good encounters with those factions, I can't and won't denie that, but I won't flame anyone on purpose cause it's useless. I won't achieve anything with it, and it won't make me feel better.
