Ok, so athenian has started up this /restart crusader ~ /restart dragon thing to create some activity with the bretonia-kusari war. While I dont think the ships chosen are very well balanced against one another, it was fun for a time, and it brought up an idea for another war that is rarely active when it should be - Nomads vs The Order.
This would require a bit more work, obviously, but here's the general idea:
-A new system is added to the mod which has absolutely nothing in it but an order base on one side and a nomad base on the other side.
-These bases do not sell anything, they only serve as landing/takeoff points.
-This system has -no- connections to the rest of sirius, it is completely cut off. You cannot get to the system without using a restart command, and you cannot leave the system once you're there.
/Restart Nomad:
Places you in a Sascya-Class Nomad "Assassin" (VHF). No bats, no bots, no ammunition, no mines, no disruptors, etc. etc. All you have are your guns and an appropriate level shield.
/Restart Order:
Places you in a Nephthys-Class Order VHF. Same deal, no bats/bots/ammo/mines/disruptors/etc.
-Note: With no ships or supplies being sold on the bases, it would not be possible to 'farm' using the restart command with these higher-end ships, as you wouldnt be able to sell them for credits.
This allows 'indy' nomads, but those nomads cannot get out of the system and thus have no effect on the rest of sirius. It also creates an ongoing pvp event between nomads and the order that doesnt have any real effect on the factions themselves.

All of those other factions can be done in open systems. Nomads cannot, due to the fact that they're a restricted faction and we dont want a few hundred indy nomads showing up and terrorizing sirius in nomad ships while lolling around in system chat.
This keeps them from doing so.
However, as pointed out by some people on skype, there are problems with the idea when you look more closely into it, so i'm not sure it'd work.
First off, this system would likely degrade very quickly and have no RP value whatsoever, and while that's half the point, it would probably negatively impact roleplay elsewhere on the server even if the system itself is secluded and cut off.
Also, we might end up with so many people playing in this system so they can fly nomad ships that the server would end up full and nobody who actually wants to play a 'real' character would be able to log on - we already see this when other faction events are scheduled.
Finally, this wouldnt really teach the 'indie nomads' anything about RP, they'd stop making morphs/trials and simply go here whenever they want to pewpewpew with a nomad ship, instead of working towards actually becoming a keeper or wilde faction member.
Im gonna guess the reply you're going to get sooner or later is: "This is an RP server, not a PvP server, you want PvP only, go somewhere else." and to be honest this idea does seem to be purely about PvP.
The server is already crowded enough as it is and other servers could use more players, I dont see a great reason for this server to fill this niche.
