try CnC 3 Kane's wrath. it has a turned base world domination mode. games can get -extremely- lengthy, but are fun. choice to use either real time simulation to kill enemy units in a clash, or just let the auto battler (which is ****e, and you end up losing, or most of your good units anyway) decide who wins.
If you like that kind of game, try Gallatic Civilisation II, the VERY HUGE stellar map give place to houuuuuurrrssss of galactic conquere battles, freaking awesome game, it's hard tho.
Definately Empire: Total War, as you have the opportunity to take a huge amount of Regions throughout Europe, India and The Americas, during the late renaissance era. It is turn based as well, so I think that would be the one to go for
