Well so are you with the pirate constantly spamming CDs at a thrusting trader. But since I said I'll go for a worst-case scenario, Elsdragon ... get some inexperienced player and tell him what to do, then we will measure the average speed with which the normal value (139 m/s) will be replaced. Interested?
Just for reference, you can still run 11K on thrusters even if your average speed is 100 in the example I gave. And that's if you're being shot by the really mean gunboat which I'm counting with by default.

Forget the fact that most traders don't spend the cash on armor upgrades they should because they are saving up for the character they actually want to RP with. [You want to RP a policeman? Great first you have to RP a trader or miner so you can buy your policeman gear!]
Forget the fact that the normal piracy on this server isn't piracy. It is extortion. You pirate for what is on the ship at the time you encounter it not for what is in the bank account of the ship's owner. Realistically that miner isn't going to have access to 5 million credits to hand over. Real pirates wouldn't demand that much. They would board and take the ore and other valuables.
Piracy on Disco isn't piracy. Period. Very few people actualy RP as a pirate. The rest of you are trigger happy extortionist.
If the pirates of the server would quite demanding millions upon millions of credits and instead demand cargo like a real pirate would things would balance out. Why don't they? Its more profitable to demand credits and takes less of their time. They don't have to find and pay someone else to haul the goods for them.
If trading was more profitable than pirating (if you know how to pirate) then there would be less pirates and more traders. Meaning the pirates could demand less but make the same via more encounters.
If you don't think piracy is more profitable I point at Ivan. If I can manage to get on when he is, I work for him rather than trade. Working for a pirate as his transport is still more profitable than pure trading.

No, you don't? Unless you need to be teeth-armed to roleplay from the very first moment, you don't. My LPI character made money by missions, then by levying fines. That is, until he went Xeno.
Perhaps we need to improve the mission system so that they have a better income/stepping difficulty. Personally I have had some trouble advancing from Defender/Patriot to the next better ship, simply because it cost significant fraction of a million credits. You will not have this problem in other houses, where the vanilla fighters can mount better equipment.
I have never been trading for purely roleplay characters.
' Wrote:Cross, that depends if the group is composed only of cargo ships or escorts as well.
You blind?
Solo = alone
Grouping with other producers = group composed only of cargo ships
Grouping with consumers = group composed of cargo ships and escorts
If you hire an escort you are hiring a consumer, thus your profit goes down and your risk goes down.
' Wrote:Sometimes the "combat" transports and liners can defend themselves in groups even without dedicated combat ships. That's what I thought it was supposed to mean. Easier to be noticed, perhaps, but the risk is debatable. Outnumbered pirates cannot effectively pirate the entire convoy at the same time. Pert of them will get away without paying. If they came one after another, they would all get robbed. Trust me as a pirate, that a steady stream of lone traders is easier than an hour of waiting and then 10 transports at the same time.
They don't need to pirate the entire convoy. Their goal is to pirate, whether it be one or more.
Also. You can throw out all your testing as you have made it clear you are testing with the the mind that the trader is an ace pilot and the pirate isn't, contrary to what you claim.
Also. I pirate too. Quit assuming others don't have any insight into things.

Excuse me. You must trade or mine if you want to be able to RP said policeman effectively.
I also highly doubt you've never traded for cash to give to another one of your characters. Highly doubt it.

I'm not saying I'm always right. And I do appreciate if there's someone willing to help. So, do you want to help, or just talk?
Feel free to doubt anything you wish. I haven't funded my random LR characters, official faction LPI characters, Xeno characters, ... the list could go on. Oh yes, if you also doubt that I funded my Hacker characters, well, you shall, but then we have nothing else to talk about:)
Of course I did fund the bounty hunters I had back in the day, and some others I still do have ... but those aren't created with "purely roleplay" in mind. For one, the BHG was quite combat-heavy.

If you want me to cut the throat and kill all the people I come across, I'd be more then happy to do that.
I very rarely pirate for credits anymore, and it's a lot of fun. But still, it's nice to be a bit low on credits, come across a transport, and say "hey, just send me a few million, you get to live that way."
Just because it doesn't fit the "ye old definition" of piracy, doesn't mean it isn't piracy.

I think I'll stick to talking. Since you know, I don't have access to the game nor do I feel the need to waste credits I earned trying to help the development team when they have the ability to do it themselves without wasting the time trading. Also, if you thing talking isn't helping, you should just quite the testing altogether.
