Well right. There would be a Squadron, Air Group, Detachment, Etc etc.
Though for all intents and purposes probably not necesary to go sooooo indepth. Unless you wanted to simply tell the story of the one squadron. Which would need to be made up of mixed assets naturally.
I elect the grumpy dwarf squadron and use Zelot's avvy.
I see the discussion went quite a leap since I went to sleep yesterday night.
So to answer some questions;
-[LM] tag will indeed be switched to [LMC]
-Yes, Liberty Navy is the ID used.
-The rank structure I've listed is only a rough equivalent of the actual LN faction vis-a-vis LMC, which are basically those that would actually be able to -pilot-. Obviously, the LMC would also have privates, corporals, sergeant and the rest, but they aren't quite easy to introduce in game.
-Are we yet another group of Liberty Lawful? Yes. Do we have too many group of? Maybe. What are we expected to do of different from others? We'll fight our enemies just like the others, do our patrols just like the others. Is it worth an official faction? Not at all. That's why I keep it unofficial. (The other reason is that I would never be arsed to waste my life to gather even close to 500M credits)
I see no problem with you wanting to make your own group rather than enlisting yourself to the [LN] faction. Maybe you disagree with their way of running things, maybe you want to be your own leader, maybe you want to be part of a smaller group, all reasons you might have are in my opinion alright.
Just because a new group is made, it is not a requirement for them to be "different" in goals and behavior than an already existing group affiliated to the same NPC Faction. Also, there is no real limit on how many groups there can exist for a NPC Faction. There can be hundred different Outcast branches if people wanted to make that many.
Usually, when a group wants to become Official, then asking the question "What new stuff can you bring that these fellas haven't already?" is relevant. However, now that you state you aren't going to aim for Official Faction status, then it's all good to go.
Well, I lied, which is why I'm posting. I say stick with [LM]. If people can't dissociate between an M and an N, and think that the Liberty... Mavy? - is the same as the Navy, they deserve to look like an idiot when they complain to the wrong authority.
Well... I suppose it isn't too fun for the authorities doing the correcting, but it's still worth a chuckle from an outside perspective.
The LMC could be a more offencive area of the navy, regarding the lib/rhein war. A faction that works out of Texas and such, and does border patrol, rheinland incursions, and incursions INTO rheinland?
Either way, i'm in. I -want- that ship. :P
A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.
I am not considering submitting the Stryker for Freelancer unfortunately, as I am not capable to turn it into Freelancer usable format.
As for ideas concerning the LMC; one of the event I had in mind consisted of a land battle on Atka (I think?) between the RM and the LMC for territorial control.

Well I'm not saying Cryer and the Rhienlanders have the best of relationships, but as of now we're technically neutral in any house to house hostilities, and not saying that that can't change, but for right now that's the way it is.
