I was hunting around with my outcast destroyer, then spotted two xenos fighting the SA and some liberty navy pilots. I give some shots, but nothing really to make a difference. Then one of the xenos killed the SA guy, or was one of the navy guys, I dont remember well. I leave back to Beaumont, then the fighter, killed by the xenos, return and say something like that "oh, destroyer on your side, three death rule", but I was not grouped with the xenos, nor even had talked with them, was just hunting around. Anyway, I was not in the battle anymore, and the xenos had to face this stupid three death rule by themselves. Now, if I had not give a single shot and was just watching the battle? I had stopped shooting for a time to watch it. Fact is that the simple presence of my destroyer activates the three death rule, even if Im passing around looking for some targets. So, I was thinking, maybe its time to take this rule out? People are finding holes in it and its becoming annoying. Certainly I will not engage a destroyer if Im in a fighter and dont have support, or dont have a nova torpedo mounted, so what is the point of the rule? Also the ooc talk about rules in system chat is very annoying, looks like Im on a box ring or something.
Tell what do you think. Shall this server continues with the three death rule for fighters? For a time it was good, it reduced the use of capships, but now the capships are returning, with house militaries doing their display of power. A example is a recent case where a rogue gunboat was hunted in Texas by a SA fighter, a SA gunboat and a navy dreadnought. I can imagine a situation where there is one gunboat against three fighters armed with novas and a cruiser, and the fighters will claim the three death rule because they are fighting a gunboat. Supposing the gunboat destroy the cruiser, he will still have to destroy nine fighters.
not to hijack the thread, but on a somewhat related note about returning to battles, i was involved in a 2v2 cap ship battle recently and it was turned into a 1v1 after one on each side was killed at about the same time, my partner was in another system and ended up not showing up etc.
but the person that died re-spawned and launched from a nearby base, did not fire, but did re-supply my opponent with bots/bats causing them to gain the upper hand and the eventual victory.
sorry about adding this in, but it is somewhat related to returning to battle. or having other ships fly by and hang around for a bit in the middle of a long fight.
I know im not wanted but ill second the whole three death rule thing. always beena problem with me. sucha s never knowing whena fight techinicly endfs and u can come back or ask for hel or some such
Navy fighter wasn't killed...(or i didn't notice that)....
me and my fighter escort were attacked by liberty navy tagged GB and cruiser....their fighter was in light fighter and he left the battle and changed to another cruiser...huntress corsair tagged...
at some point in fight while FWolf attacked cruiser (on his own, with out any call from us..we attacked GB) that GB disappeared from radar and visual leaving console message: Departing.....
Fwolf took care of liberty cruiser in the mean time and left the area....
soon above mentioned huntress arrives the scene, and attacks me and my fighter escort...also destroyed liberty cruiser reengages us again....i warned him twice not to attack and about three death rule...while i was typing i was still attacked by huntress...
after i issued a warning (lib cruiser retreats), i attacked huntress and after short fight she is destroyed...both liberty cruiser and huntress had same beginning of the name showing that they worked together of belong to same "faction or organization"....one navy one corsair
after all that they even accused my fighter escort of ramming them despite the fact that i was all the time below and behind huntress (knowing its weak spots) and saw clearly that my fighter wasn't that close to huntress (he didn't attack liberty cruiser at all) and in fact huntress was rammed by large liberty police patrol who was following my ship....
also reason for us to even be in Texas was Perseus him self...we came after him...and if we weren't attacked by navy and corsairs we would attack him...(junker/outcasts don't mix with xenos)...but he left during our fight with corsair...

three death rule would apply here if they all were in fighters despite FWolf helping us or not...i was flying GB and that is capital ship...however they had two cruisers and GB...so not 3 death..killed once stay dead...
in that fight only liberty cruiser didn't know of that rule but after warning no problems from him...
i still vote for 3 death rule for fighters against cap ships...(not bombers...they have only one death in my opinion..no ship that can make 90 000 damage to hull by one shoot can have three lives against cap ship)
________________________________________________________________________
we also attacked and killed whale with neutral ID..(i warned him about it)...that topic was discussed before and people were warned...so i will have no respect for transports with neutral IDs...they are valid targets...and they will be destroyed...

that half hour was quite fest on breaking the rules...

Thats more people finding a bloody loop hole again.
Im all for supplying with bots and bats, but only when in battle; if they died, and then they start doing that, just leave the fight, and say "sorry im not going to fight with people who use loopholes".
I dont agree with the three death rule at all. In my opinion, it should be scrapped and just have one death for everyone.
Make characters who are not in a faction not able to get battleships, because then there will be alot less if the high command of all the factions are tight on battleship restrictions.
This way, the only things we will see everywhere are cruisers and gunboats, not a match for many many bomber pilots here.
Also, Doom, in your place, i would have, as soon as I saw the huntress cruiser engageing me, left the batte and said "sorry, no dice, Corsairs helping Navy, no way". But thats just me.
I'll look out for those neutral ID people in transports...
No! Don't restrict battleships! Just make them a crapload more expensive. Although I do agree it would have been more appropriate to just refuse to engage; I think there's some old clause somewhere that says if you say 'No Fight' they have to leave you alone.

If any SA were involved or breaking rules, please inform me by PM.
Unless a fighter is KILLED by a cap ship, the rule does not count. That means the server death message is that of the cap ship.
I'm not going to comment on the rest of this. We don't need more flames. Address the admins personally so they can do something about it.
EDIT:
Fancy a complete player wipe, Epyon? Because I certainly don't... Or perhaps you want to be the one to sieve through all the player data for battleships and delete them?...
The only way to restrict the battleship whoring again, is to have a player wipe ... So we all start with a level
playing field. Then those that want them again, all have to do the same amount of work ...
Price increases when half the server already has them is a waste of time. Its the lack of roleplay situations
that is making this a problem. Back to the one death rule, will alleviate some of them, but capships ain't going
away easily. Loophole city once more ... Fed up with it.
