"Indeed, but not literally on surface. The moon of planet Volgograd, the famous Zvezdny Gorodok. I was born somewhere on outskirts, in open settlement Bolshoy. I lived there for my entire childhood span, then my family decided to move ourselves in more advanced (technically) and prospering city."
As soon as the man had left, she sat back in her chair, smoothing the front of her shirt with the palm of her hand. "We come from such terrible beginnings," The machine spoke up suddenly.
Without even looking at it, she replied, "We aren't expected to be perfect at first. That's why we join the Coalition."
"Affirmative."
With a roll of her eyes and a final pass with her hand, she yelled, "Next!"
"THE HULL HAS BEEN BREACHED AND THESCIENCEIS LEAKING OUT!"
"That is all, it appears. Captain Alvarez and Commander GonZales have the last two. Can I get you anything? More coffee, perhaps?"
She motioned some maintenance techs inside the room to start cleaning it up. As another pair hurried to replace the CIC windows and patch the bullet holes in the walls.
Satisfied, if slightly suspicious, Vicenta nodded. "So, tell me, Comrade Shadrova. Why do we fight capitalism? Why is the Revolution a necessary and inevitable thing?"
"You are going to get one rather short, very annoyed man in a minute if you don't get back on your feet..." he snapped, finally growing annoyed. "Look, esse, you come in here reeking of booze, you sit in my CIC without invitation... and you don't even know the..." He sighed.
"Get... off... my... ship!" he snapped. "Guards, haul this sorry sack of... whatever... out of here. I don't want to look at him until he's had a bath, sobered up, and ready for duty." Alvarez levelled his mug at the man. "You will be back here, the next time we're recruiting. You WILL be sober, and you will be able to answer my questions. You get me, homes?"
He waved at the two marines to help the man back to his ship. Turning and marching back through the revolving glass panels that had just been replaced, nodding to Lt. Commander Broch as he went.
"Another one... why... why... why do we get them?" he complained as he poured himself another cup of coffee.
He stopped... "Alexandra Kohonsky?" he asked, looking through the door. He glanced at Angie, and shook his head. "There's no way in hell!"
Marching through the doors and into the waiting room he grabbed her by the back of her jacket, frog marching her out of the recruitment office.
"I served with your father!" he said in a tone that was biting and hard. "I fought with him during the evacuation of Cape Verde. I served under him during the commissioning of the Karl.Marx... and you know what he said?"
He paused pulling her around to look right into his blazing eyes. "He said to me that there was one reason he was fighting, and that was to make sure you, his baby girl, had a better life to grow up in. And I will be damned if I am going to let you join the fighter corps!"
The elevator spat them out on the flight deck, and Alvarez pointed to a shuttle. "You are going to get on that ship right there, you are going to go home... you hear me Alexandra?"
The look on his face showed he wasn't going to be argued with.
"Get, before I tell your daddy you were up here, and he comes and whups both of our asses!"
*Dex smiled for a brief moment, before going back to his cold emotionless stoneface*
Well, saying I'm a good shooter is more then a lie. However, saying I'm a stealthy basterd is more precise. I used to make a living, pirating Liberty capital vessels. Boarded their dreadboughts and extorted the crew using whatever means neccesary.
I know the Coalition could use those abilities, to some extent. Moving silently around is a virtue few can say they have mastered. However, if it comes to a fight, I shall stare death in the eyes untill either one succumb. My life is irrelevant, the goal is all that matters. Be it retrieving intel or suecide missions, it will be done, flawlessly and according to my plans.
*Dex smiled again, then chuckled*
*He returned to his normal whispering voice* Life, what is life?
*He seemed to be in deep though*
*His lips moved, soundlessly forming some words* Life....... is...... death
*He looked up, almost like he was analyzing the entire room atom for atom, while waiting for a reply.*
Luis exhaled the smoke from his cigar and took a sip of his vodka."I expected more Comrade Dex then that. Although you made an interesting presentation we do not need any more covert ops members.
Sadly for you Commissariat disbanded our recon wing due to their pathetic performance and they were lucky that we did only that. Coalition is not hiding from anyone Comrade although we use some of Guerrilla tactics we certainly don't extort anyone.
We fight for the people, and people is the core strength of the coalition and I'm afraid you are not the right material for us from your answers. I suggest you continue with your little pirate stunts until you mature enough for us.
Luis pointed with his hand to the door. Guards took Dex by each arm and dragged him out of the office. Gellantra yelled, escort him to his shuttle. He took a last sip from his glass and stumbled through the office doors into the silence of ships corridors.
"Finally peace and quiet" He muttered in his chin.
