The Helghast had done the Impossible. A raiding party to the Omicron Theta system had uncovered the ZKW and the Galactic Powerbasin, both of which were contained in the Artifact Hidden for Centuries by the Dom'Kavash and now it had been released.
The Helghast were foolish and took their new Prize back to the home system of Puerto Rico, where they could install it on the Second Planet Killer. They would be come unstoppable. But at the last second the Inquisition found out and moved to Intercept.
The Inquisition stood ready. In Texas, a fleet lay waiting, a fleet so alrge it could decimate nations before it was stopped. The leader of this group was an Inquisitor Lord by the name of Servious.
Inside the meeting room onboard his Flagship, the Ordo Xenos, he sat in conference with the rest of the Fleet commanders. He was in his chair and the Holograms of the other commanders rested in their chairs.
"Greetings, today is a glorious one! We will put an end to the Helghast and their bringer of Destruction and Fear. Today, we will intercept the Helghast flagship, the Planet Killer and destroy it! It is in the possetion of the galaxies most powerful weapon, the ZKW device and it is powered by the Galatic Power Basin."
Inquisitor Lord Roddy stood up in his chair. "What?! Lord Rita, the Late deLuna and I personally deemed it impossible that such a device could actually exist!"
"Well it can, and now Verginix has it. His ship is now residing near the Sun of Puerto Rico and the Helghast are attempting to finish the construction of the Planet Killer mk 2."
Inquisitor Lord Tregan spoke next, "What is our tactical approach to this? We can't go agaisnt the firepower of such a large vessel, and its bound to have an escort!"
"Thats Just the thing," Said Servious, "Inquisitor Lords Roddy and Rita will be with me and we will lead the main task force. The Ordo Xenos, Defiant, and the Jammy Dodger will lead the assault. Inquisitors Richter and Seax will follow, leading their own separate task forces. This will be the main assault group."
"Now, Inquisitor Lord Tregan and Inquisitor Veridian. You take your battlegroups around the rear and strike them from behind. Once all their attention is focused on us, you should have a clear run for the Planet Killer."
"But What of the Device?" Piped up Lord Rita, "Don't we need to preserve it?"
"No, it gets destroyed with the rest of the Helghast. We will send them back to whatever hell-hole they were spawned from!"
"Here here!" Said Tregan.
"I sense Danger ahead, Lord Servoius" Spoke Lord Lichallen, who had been quiet this whole time."
"What do you mean? Of course their will be danger! The Helghast will protect their mothership with everything they have!"
"No, not in that sense, something bigger. You are foolish not have seen it. The Warp is overflowing with energy on this eve and I would advise you to take heed."
The Other Inquisitors shuffled their feet, un-easy at these words.
"I will listen, but I do not expect more then what facts we have. We can use the powers of the warp as our guidance and it says that we will come home with a victory!"
"Then your fate is sealed, Lord Servious."
"Enough! Now we fly to battle! Inquisitors, return to you posts on your flagships and lead your men to war!
The battlefleet came though the Jump Hole Simultaneously, the massive force splitting off. One smaller group went off, flying into the distance to flank the Helghast fleet. The larger force, flew straight and true, headed toward the last known location of their target.
Inquisitor Lord Roddy stood with Rita on the bridge of the Defiant. Around him, Explicators and Castigators worked with cyborgs and underlings, making the Large cruiser run smoothly.
"How did Verginix get that god-forsaken machine?" Said Rita out loud.
"You have me beat. I wish Madame deLuna was here with that blasted little sphere of hers. They could figure this mess out."
"Sir!" Said Dimitri "What shall we do?"
"Tell Hart to get the Engines to All Ahead Full, but get the chainguns ready, we don't want to hit any debris on the way in. And keep the Flagship in sight."
Dimitri walked briskly to the ships telegraph and pushed the handle all the way forward.
Down in the Engine room, a green slider on Hartford's control panel went from half to full. "Engines! All ahead Full! Were going into Cruise!"
The ratings scurrying around pulling large leavers and loosening valves. "More power to the engines!" He called, and several cords that needed to picked up by five men were lifted and inserted it into the sockets on the main engine shaft.
Back on the bridge, the overall status board showed speed was at max and they were moving slowly but surly though the dense field of Debris.
"Now we can sit back and relax." Said Roddy
"Hmm yes, and wait for impending doom!"
The Two laughed, thinking of Lichallen and his foresight.
There it was. Fifty kilometres ahead was the Planet Killer. It vast bulk the size of 5 regular battleships. It sat close to the sun of Puerto Rico. Surrounding it were hundreds of smaller capital ships, ranging from gunboats to even a few captured Liberty Dreadnoughts.
Inquisitor Lord Servoius opened Comm channels. "This is it! Our final strike against these scum! Today we end it! All ahead full into battle!"
As a single entity, the Inquisition fleet moved forwards, guns at ready and shields primed. On the Bridge of the Planet Killer, Lord Solar Grand Admiral Verginix sat in his chair, plugged into the inner workings of his ship.
"Those foolish humans! They think they can stop their own deaths. They are a foolish species and our race of true humans will eradicate them!" The Planet Killer groaned and creaked. The hull of the immense ship seamed to sigh with the thought of killing. "Launch fighters!" Verginix told his ship and the destroyer of Worlds came alive.
Roddy stood alone on the deck of the Defiant, as Rita had left to command the Jammy Dodger. Helghast were all around him and he was barking out orders.
"Weapons Officer! Get turrets Alpha and Beta on that gunboat!"
"Yes M'lord, doing so now!"
The cannons swiveled around and fired. The Enemy gunboat bled out green air as the turrets punched hole after hole into its side. It soon exploded, adding to the growing debris field.
"Fighters incoming sir!" Said the Nav officer.
"Get the chainguns ready, and put shields to fu-"
"ACTUNG! Obsticle Ankommend! ACTUNG!"
A large chunk of a space station glided in front of the Inquisition ship. Roddy ran forward and grabbed the Telegraph. Pulling as hard as he could so it lay on All Reverse Full. "HARD TO PORT!" he shouted into the ship-wide comm set and spun the wheel as hard as he could, while adding a little to the down wheel as well.
The ponderous vessel slowly stopped and spun to the left, just barely missing the metal chunk. The Defiant came facing a cluster of Fighters and a gunboat.
"Open Fire!" Said Roddy.
The turrets shot and ships died. "Good shooting!"
"Lord! Gunboat to the rear!"
"Damnit! Get us around!"
The Helghast ship opened fire and their shields started dropping to critical levels. Roddy couldn't get the ship around fast enough.
But then the Jammy Dodger came, and took out the gunboat with a few well-placed shots to the engines. "Thank the gods Rita!"
"Anytime, I knew that ship was too big for you." She responded slyly, and the dodger glided back into the fray.
"Any Damage, Hartford?"
"None, but our shields need to recharge. Taking some power away from the Engines to give them a little boost."
"Roger, move to assist that ship ahead." One of the Inquisition destroyers was being set upon by a Hessian cruiser and it had fires on several decks.
"Sir!" Said the Nav officer "That's the Helghast Pirate Flagship!"
"Engage it! We will take this kill and end the scourge that has plagued this Galaxy for too long!" He set the telegraph to All ahead Half and the Defiant moved onward. The Helghast ship noticed them and with a few more shots, destroyed the Destroyer, and spun to engage the Inquisitor.
"She's coming along side us, M'lord!" Said the nav Officer.
"Port guns! Ready to fire!" Said Roddy into the Comms.
Along the side of the Rheinland Cruiser, hatches were electronically opened and the crewmen rolled the heavy cannons forward to firing position. Placing fresh batteries in the guns, they stood back and waited for the order.
The Helghast vessel was doing the same, and it was coming along the sides of the Rheinland ship.
"ALL BATTERIES FIRE, FIRE!" Shouted Roddy, and the Cannons answered fiercely. The large guns would fire a devastating beam of energy that would push the gun backwards. The Ratings would load a new powercells into the gun and roll it forward, where it would shoot again.
Punching holes in the helghast ship, the resilient pirate vessel responded. Its red beams from its port cannons making contrast with the green Rheinland ones. The Defiant took hit after hit, and many levels and gun batteries were set ablaze. One shot hit the Cruise Disruptor Magazine and the resulting shockwave knocked the crew of the Inquisition vessel off their feet.
Roddy regained composure and stood up, pulling himself up with the wheel. "Damage assessment?!"
"M'Lord, we lost contact with several gundecks, and fours 4a-e are on fire. Sending crews now. Our overall hull strength is 73 percent sir."
"We're doing ok then! How bad did we get the Retribution?"
"We got her good lord, she is rabbiting!"
The Rheinland ship fired off a few shots from its turrets and but the Helghast ship fell back.
At this time, Inquisitor Lord Tregan had arrived from the rear and had begun attacking the Planet Killer. It was alone, but it was not weak. Its massive guns were eating through Tregans assault force like a nova cannon through fighters. "This is Tregan to Inquisitorial Forces! We need assistance!"
"We are coming!" Said Lord Servious as he disengaged from the Helghast battleship his crew had just destroyed, its moldering remains lay scattered.
Most of the Helghast fleet was gone, save for a few remaining resistors, and the Planet Killers defenses.
"Focus all your fire on the Planet Killer!" Should the Lord Inquisitor.
Roddy did so with pleasure. His guns fired and fired and he took more and more power from the shields to kill that ship. The Planet Killer was not going down easy. Its cannons fired upon the main fleet too and the Inquisitors were slowly getting pushed back.
The Planet Killer was dying. The Inquisition has almost prevailed and the massive ship had almost no hull strength left. Veginix had known this was coming and he could feel his ship, as its death throes entered it and as the massive cannons started to wither. He Laughed Manically to himself and the bridge officers. He would still show them all! All those humans would pay!
Inquisitor Lord Servious Piloted his Dreadnought to the prow of the Planet Killer. "keep shoot, we almost have it!
The Ordo Xenos pumped another salvo and he saw with triumph the explosions start to ripple through the massive craft.
Roddy saw this too. "Fall back! its going to explode! I am not going with it!" He shouted this over Fleet-comm to the rest of the Inquisitors. The fleet moved away from the dying beast. Save for the Ordo Xenos, who stayed, unable to leave his prized kill.
Verginix saw his ship's death. As hit sat in his Throne on the Bridge, we watched the explosions move alone the spine of the ship, growing nearer and nearer. At the last second, before the bridge was consumed by the fires of Inevitability, he pushed the button.
The ship exploded, and Inquisitor Lord Servoius jumped! "We won! The Helghast are finished! We-
The dying Leviathan had one more trick. The massive anti-matter cannons on the Planet Killer guns, combined with the Galaxy-shattering might of the ZKW, sucked up the reaction of the dying ship and it erupted into a white ball of energy 100, thousand kilometres wide, taking the Helghast Fleet, and the Inquisitor Lord Servious with it.
Roddy Stood with Rita on the Bridge of the Defiant, watching as the White ball collapsed in on itself. It formed a vortex of energy, one that sucked in any ship that strayed too close and it was came to known as the Puerto Rican Rift.
Inquisitor Tregan Joined them, having arrived by shuttle from his damaged ship. "And thus ends the Helghast Empire. The three watched as the bright white energy grew dimmer and dimmer."
"The ZKW has finally be destroyed." Said Rita
"And we know it for good." Finished Roddy. "Dimitri, set course for Houston." And with that, the Helghast Empire was gone and the Inquisition Fleet turned away, setting a course for home.
On the Other side of the System, The Helghast Prophet sat on the Bridge of the Retaliation, with Lord Solar Grand Admiral Olsav. The Humans had thought they had killed all of the Helghast, and they killed many, and good pilots like Raptor, Kernov, Agent007, and Hassan had died. But many remained. Olsav looked out the veiw port, and saw the ships of Ferdimond, Blake, and Jack Archer, as well as many more fighters.
"We will return, and weather it takes a year or a hundred, the Helghast will return." Olsav and the Prophet Walked off the Bridge.
Nice... but a problem... you said that the Inquisition uses fighters only, and gunboats... same as the Helghast. Too... restrictive... but the story is OK. Better than ok, it's a good RP for the end of the helghast... I read a few things about you guys... keep up the good work:Pand help me with my stories aswell:D
Yes, well, remember, The Helghast were powerful, they ahd a very large Fleet that was waiting in their home system to attack, but the Inquisition pushed them back in this case. The helghast had broought out EVERTHING do protect the ZKW device, but they failed.
And the Inquisition uses fighters for its members when they are out in the feild doing their regular work, but Inquisitor Lords can use Cruisers. Hence the Defiant. And in the terms of the Battleships? Those are kept in reserve for the big fights.
Most of the people here live in Europe ish where it is morning (I think >.<)
But what would you expect? There are like 3 and a half members left. And this explains what happened to the rest of them, AND it tells about the Puerto Rican Rift, which is the big centre peice of Puerto Rico (when it comes out in the next release)
Take you time when you type (giah im so gonna burn for this). I type my stuff(ha what little i get done) in open office, i don't trust the spellcheck thats build into these forums.
If, what you say is true, then i am truly sorry ta see the Helghast fall. We had some good battles (PK):)and I enjoyed'em all. I hope it is just a rut, or cycle, and ya'll shall rise again.
WEll, the Helghast are not really gone, they are not as big as they used to be. We now consist of a REALLY small force, that will appear everyone once and a while.
