' Wrote:Why not just use the new go-to-fullscreen-mode shortcut to go to fullscreen while in battle (it's ctrl-enter I think)... then switch out again when done? Saves Cannon the work and IMO it's better without forcing the focus on the window when in windowed mode - nicer for multitasking while ingame.
Fighting in full screen mode is pretty hard to do for me. It feels, quite surprisingly, much more unnatural than fighting with the screen windowed. It's probably a mechanical issue; it's far easier to go into a full turn while firing when the window is 1024x768 than a much larger screen area, where stuff also manages to escape your field of view. In fact, this is the only game that suffers from a larger screen from my experience, since everything gets bigger rather than the field of view expanding.
As for "forcing the focus on the window", it would only focus the cursor on the window, you could press the windows key and the mouse would be released, while the current functionality of the screen not freezing would remain.
Then again, Im pretty sure that it's a unique problem for me. Who fights in windowed mode anyway? I just wish that D3Dviewer still worked now. Suffice to say I was quite surprised and disappointed that windows 7 changed these things.
Because it was a feature requiring playtesting - ships haven't been balanced for use with this new feature, Pacific. And they need to be.

Well, I've also noticed that the wing animation on Templar (and on Wraith most likely, although I haven't checked it) doesn't start if you launch your cruise engines while jettisoning stuff (it must be overridden by jettisoning animation). I wonder what'd happen if you tried launching cruise engines right after jettisoning (while the shields are still deactivated). Not that animation override is important, but it -might- help you in case your wings get shot off (never got my wings show off, so I can't say whether animation override will help you to launch cruise engines).

I've also been told that if you do this while other people are in visual range of you and they have the new DLL as well, then it crashes their game too.
I haven't personally tested it with other people around but it's worth looking into becayse it can be easily abused.
