' Wrote:Still, when both sides could field enough players, it was a hell of a lot of fun, especially when an entire fleet kept us occupied so some traders could sneak past, so there are good and bad sides, like most things though.
Keep it up Cannon, I know you're working hard and I want to give you my kudos.
I didn't miss the point, I do enjoy the interaction, and I'm not complaining about "losing". The only thing that bothers me is when there's like 50 people online, and most of Rheinland is alseep and THAT'S when they do their trading. Apart from that, it's great fun, believe me. The skirmish in Bering with a giant Liberty fleet escorting a few transports was the highlight of my week. :yahoo:
' Wrote:They're not going to be able to...but if it is that important to you then I suggest you stay on the server 24/7 with a RM dreadnaught.
Ugggh. Have fun damn it. Stop trying to over think the whole thing. Stop just playing for the win.
If you want I will require people to write a 1000 word RP essay before being allowed to play.
RM Battleturtles cant shoot transports.
Essays to be allowed to play disco would keep the people who cant be bothered to RP out, as well as the lolwuts who just powertrade for caps.
I may just be a angry rambling player, but like most of the people here I play for fun. There is no fun having no chance to stop any transport because of a overeager LN dreadnought that would rather gank your gunboat with pretty much no RP other than "Trader: Kill that RM for me please? LN: Yes sir, engaging Idiot"
Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.
' Wrote:A crap event. How the hell are gunboats and snubs supposed to take down Traders operating at low server time when there a LNS dreadnoughts escorting the damn traders?
Honestly, what the hell?
How are mercenaries suppose to take down RM fighters if everytime I go to Hamburg there are 2 or 3 battleships to protect them?

@Aphil, Andrew: Time Zones suck, but it affects all of us, not only you, I'm sorry to say it in a rude way, but get over it, it's not like it was planned on purpose, and also, even if this event wasn't happening, the westfalen would still be in LN hands, so you are not losing anything.

We (The RM) where forced into this situation, and the only exit we are given is a insanely impossible objective, while LNS hordes are pretty much infinite, even if we kill the transports they can still come back under the rule of "trading is allowed after dying" which pretty much makes it impossible to win.

Why do you continue to assume I care if I win or lose anything? Of course the event wasn't planned this way on purpose, it really ought to go without saying.:rolleyes:Yes, people have to deal with timezones. Most people don't have to deal with time sensitive events, though while the end results I couldn't care less about, it's not fun if it all happens while I, and most of Rheinland is asleep, now is?

Simple. Don't come to Hamburg when there are three battleships around. As the aggressor, you have the choice of when to strike, as the defender, we don't have that luxury.

Where does it say this was an exit for the RM? Cannon didn't say what the outcomes were.
You have still missed the point. You are still only playing to win. This is exactly what Cannon has asked you not to do.
Right now there are two dreads and a reaver in hamburg. I couldnt even get through to Bremen to get my SNAC on my berg. (well, i got through, but it's really really hard trying to dock with a reaver shooting at you.)

Well, then I guess the same answer applies to you, don't go to Hamburg when there are 3 battleships escorting transports.
@Andrew, Bindo: So, NOW LN is overpopulating the system? Aren't there 14 RM cruisers online today? Aren't there 4 turtles Heavy Mortaring the westfalen now? So, because you are low in numbers at certain time or a certain week, you call it unfair? Also, no one is forcing you to stop those transports, and as well, with or without the event, those transports could still go there for trading, and without the event, if those transports were trading to the westfalen and being escorted by dreadnoughts, we wouldn't be having this exchange of thoughts, because certainly, no one would be complaining for a situation that could exist yesterday.
I'll give you the advice we've learned when facing a more powerful force, get more ships, can't have backup? Retreat and wait.
Andrew get over it. All RM guys, get over it.. Seriously.. If you didn't want this to happen, maybe next time think about the consequences your choices will have. And if you are not HC of RM and don't like their decisions, do something about it. Otherwise, you're all at fault for this happening, so don't get mad about how unfair it is and instead think about the RP consequences next time.
If we retreat and wait, we "lose".
Going to Hamburg and getting blown up is actually less of a "loss" then doing nothing.
And there is something to be said for playing to win. It's one of the larger points of the game and the major driving of interaction.. Yes, we should play to have fun, but not having a chance to win makes it less fun.
' Wrote:And if you are not HC of RM and don't like their decisions, do something about it.
Like what? There is literally nothing we, not even the official RM can do. The faction leader owns the faction, and if you don't like that, tough.

Losing the Westfalen wasn't unfair. This here, however, is a contest so one-sided you could call it just by reading the description. We are thinking about the RP consequences now, and we don't want to suffer bad things just beacuse we lost a contest we had no chance of winning.
